后羿向西王母求得一包不死藥，交予嫦娥保管。逄蒙趁后羿外出，逼迫嫦娥交出不死藥，嫦娥危急之時吞下不死藥，不多時便飄離地面，飛落月亮上成了仙。

后羿回家後，知道了逢蒙作亂的真相，立即殺了逄蒙。

The story of Chang'e's Leaving the Moon tells how Hou Yi, a skilled archer, shot and killed nine suns, which made him highly respected by the people. Many aspiring heroes came to learn from him. Among them was the cunning and unscrupulous Peng Meng who sneaked into the group.

Hou Yi asked the Western Goddess for a bag of immortal medicine and entrusted it to Chang'e for safekeeping. Peng Meng cornered Hou Yi and forced Chang'e to hand over the medicine. In a panic, Chang'e swallowed the medicine and soon flew off the ground, landing on the moon and becoming a goddess.

When Hou Yi returned home and learned of Peng Meng's treachery, he immediately killed him.
