Once upon a time, there was a young couple, Jack and Jane, who lived in a small village. They both shared a small, cramped bedroom in their humble abode. One night, Jane woke up in the middle of the night to find Jack crying hysterically. She asked him what was wrong, but he just shook his head and refused to say.

Every night for the next week, Jane woke up to find Jack crying hysterically. She became very worried and decided to search the bedroom for any sign of a problem. That's when she discovered a strange figure standing in the corner of the room. It was a shadowy figure with no face, and it seemed to be staring at Jack.

Jane called a doctor, who told her that there was no medical reason for Jack's crying. Then he advised her to keep the room empty of anything that could scare him, including dark curtains and shadows from other objects. But still, every night, Jane woke up to find Jack crying.

Finally, Jane had had enough. She decided to clear the room of everything and sleep on the floor next to Jack's bed. That night, she slept with him and woke up to find him snoring peacefully. She turned on the light and saw that there was nothing in the room except for a plain white bedsheet. But then she noticed something odd about the sheet - it had a dark stain on it that looked like blood.

She touched the stain and it felt sticky. She quickly realized that it was dried blood, and she knew that Jack had been bitten by something while sleeping. She screamed and woke up the whole neighborhood. When they came to investigate, they found a small, dead rat in the corner of the room.

The doctor said that Jack had been bitten by a rat while sleeping and had been traumatized by it. He explained that it was why he had been crying hysterically every night. Jane was relieved to know that it was all just a big misunderstanding, but she also realized that she needed to be more careful when it came to Jack's safety.
