The creature smiled at John and said, "Hello, little boy. I am the Forest Spirit and I have been watching over this forest all these years. You have come at a very special time because today is my birthday and I would like to give you a gift."

John was surprised and couldn't believe his ears. He thought the Forest Spirit might be joking or playing a trick on him, but the creature seemed very serious. So, the Forest Spirit handed John an apple that had been growing from a nearby tree all his life. It was the most delicious apple John had ever tasted. He was amazed by the gift and couldn't wait to share it with his family and friends back home.

After thanking the Forest Spirit, John returned home and shared the magical gift with his family. They all agreed that it was the best apple they had ever eaten and decided to plant it in their own garden. From then on, every year on the Forest Spirit's birthday, they would gather around their own apple tree and remember the kindness of this magical creature.
