Hark! how sweet the human voice

Sings in the notes of rapture true,

When music through the soul is thrown,

That blended harmony may loose!

O, may that soul to Heaven ascend,

In spite of fate's stern jealousy,

O'er mountains high and oceans deep,

We'll struggle to the utmost breath;

Till Love's sweet song shall charm us back,

And bid our weary spirits rest.
