His mother saw his smile and tried to stop him, but it was too late. The monkey's cries grew louder and louder, and the crowd laughed even harder. Then, suddenly, the monkey stopped crying and looked at Tom with a serious face. He reached out his hand and gave Tom a piece of fruit. Everyone in the crowd burst into laughter again, but this time it was Tom who was laughing with them.

His mother smiled and said, "See, Tom? Laughter is contagious, but you have to know when to laugh and when not to laugh." From then on, Tom learned to control his laughter and became a much more well-behaved little boy.
