My Favourite Festival

Every year, there are many festivals in China, but my favourite festival is the Spring Festival. It is the most important festival in China, which is usually in January or February.

The Spring Festival is a time for family reunion. People usually go back to their hometowns to see their relatives and friends. It is a time for joy and happiness, because everyone is looking forward to a new beginning and a fresh start.

Besides family reunion, there are many customs and traditions related to the Spring Festival. For example, people usually clean their houses before the festival, and make some traditional dishes like dumplings, fish and spring rolls. They also set off firecrackers to scare away bad luck and evil spirits.

Another reason why I like the Spring Festival is that it is a time for giving and receiving red envelopes. Children can receive red envelopes from their relatives and friends, which usually contain money. It is a symbol of good luck and prosperity for the coming year.

In conclusion, the Spring Festival is a wonderful festival with rich cultural and traditional meanings. It is a time for family reunion, happiness and good luck. Therefore, it is my favourite festival.
