It was a typical Friday afternoon, and I was on my way up to my office when I accidentally got trapped in the lift. It was a new building, and I had only been there a few times before, so I had no idea where the emergency release button was.

I pressed the button for my floor, but the lift didn't budge. It was as if it had been stuck in time. The seconds ticked by, and my heart began to race. I could hear my own breathing, and it seemed to echo in the confined space.

The lift was pitch black, save for the dull light from the safety deposit boxes lining the walls. My thoughts raced as I tried to think of a way out. My phone was useless down there, as there was no signal.

Just when I was starting to panic, the lift suddenly lurched upward, then stopped. There was a soft click, and the lift doors began to open. I quickly stepped out, took a deep breath, and headed up to my office.

Looking back on that experience, it's hard to believe that I actually got trapped in the lift. But it taught me an important lesson: always be prepared for the unexpected. It could happen to anyone, and you never know when it might happen to you.
