1. Learn the literature classification rules of the Shaanxi Institute of Technology Library, the bibliographic data description rules, and the literature subject indexing work rules.

Due to the different situations in different universities, libraries need to determine different working rules for the professional settings of their institutions and the specific circumstances of their own literature collection. Therefore, the first task we entered into the editorial department was to study the red skin “Working Manual of the Library and Editing Department of Shaanxi Institute of Technology” compiled by the museum itself, laying a good foundation for the next cataloging of the machine.

Because of the limited time, our theoretical study only began for a long time to start preparing for the machine.

3. Degaussing and magnetic strip

Since the anti-theft system of the museum has just been upgraded and the books in this batch have not yet had time to replace the matching magnetic stripe, our preparation work has a more difficult task: to replace the magnetic strip. And to tear off the original magnetic strip, put a new magnetic strip, this work seems simple, but the workload is very large.

When degaussing, you must first find the position of the magnetic strip. This position is not fixed. It is very difficult to find it in a thick book. In some thick books, there may be more than one magnetic strip. One time, after we tore five out of a book of more than seven hundred pages, the detector showed no magnetic strips! Secondly, even if you find the location of the magnetic strip, it is not easy to tear it off. Some books have thinner papers, and if there are several magnetic strips inside, generally wait until all the tears are finished. This new book has become an old book. Therefore, in order to reduce the damage to the book, the part of the torn strip is generally completed by a relatively careful girl, and the boys can help find the position of the magnetic strip. After all the magnetic strips have been torn, the test is again performed to ensure that the magnetic strip is completely eliminated.

Compared with degaussing, it is much easier to stick the magnetic strip. Just stick a long magnetic strip in the middle of the book near the spine, but the magnetic strip is for theft, so the job seems to be very simple, but there are also many places to pay attention to, such as the magnetic strip to be attached to no text. The place, so that will not affect the reading, and the magnetic strip can not grow out of the book, so the reader may be scratched when not careful, and then can not be too shallow, so easy to cause magnetic due to readers and other reasons The strips fall off.

4. Sorting, drawing lines and making books

The books after the replacement of the magnetic strips are arranged in the order of the order book, and the books are marked in the lower line in batches, so that it is convenient to post the book labels in the future, and then one copy is taken according to the type, and ten books are taken one by one, and the book is back.

5. On the machine

According to the bibliographic data description rules, each field is recorded one by one. This is the core part of the entire cataloging work, so we spent two-thirds of the time in the entire editing department internship to familiarize ourselves with this work, and The teacher has been trying hard to find some books with more difficulty for us to practice, but after all, the number and types of books are limited, so when I finally finish the internship in the editing department, I still feel that there are some special description methods and techniques. Too skilled, I can only slowly explore it myself in the future work.

Although there are regrets, the overall gains are still quite large. Under the patient guidance of the teacher, I have mastered the basics of book description: First, objective description. That is to say, the description of the basic information of the book must be objective, including the objective content of the document can be objectively reflected when extracting the subject words. Of course, this is not an easy task, and it is necessary to continuously sum up experience in a large number of practices. Second, propose all the search points as much as possible. This point should be paid special attention in the 200 field, related title field and subject analysis field, especially the 517 field in the relevant title field, which is very likely to be used.

Because I used to be a volunteer in the circulation department, I was familiar with the basic work such as borrowing books and putting on shelves.

1. Borrowing a book: The eye is fast and fast.

Not only should each record generated after the operation be viewed in detail to ensure the validity of the borrowing operation, but also to remind the readers of the library to carry the book board and prevent the reader from taking the unprocessed book out of the security door. Stop handling the borrowing of books, and sometimes remind readers to check whether the books are defaced so that they can be dealt with in a timely manner, so they will make mistakes if they are not careful.

2. Return books: Careful and patient challenges

The work of the circulation department directly faces the readers. The reader's impression of a library is directly derived from the service attitude of the staff of the circulation department. Therefore, carefulness and patience become the minimum requirements for the service staff of the readers, especially During the peak period of the book, we must follow the process in an orderly manner, and we must not worry.

2.1 Returning books For each book that is returned, each book should be checked for any lack of pages, tailoring, and defacement. If it is found, it should be dealt with in a timely manner. For the overdue books, an invoice should be issued to guide the readers to pay the books at the borrowing office. After the fine, it will be dealt with.

2.2 When renewing a loan, it is generally preferred to renew the book according to the book, and it must be clearly told that the renewal must be processed between 20 and 30 days after the original book is lent, and the original book returned to the reader in less than twenty days. And inform them of the effective renewal time, for more than 30 days, forcibly returned, and imposed a fine according to the number of overtime days.

2.3 Dealing with the reader's information This work is less in contact with the readers. As long as you occasionally answer some questions about the loss of books, the rest is to cancel the library card of the previous graduate and register the library card of the new student. .
