Summary of work of the Ministry of Health

The main goal of the health care poverty alleviation project is to improve the basic primary health care level of the rural areas, especially the poor mountainous areas in the west. In some poverty-stricken areas in China, especially in the impoverished mountainous areas of the west, farmers are trapped in a cycle of poverty-causing disease, poverty due to illness, returning to poverty due to poverty, and returning to poverty due to illness. Many farmers have no money to seek medical advice, and small diseases have become a serious illness. The major illness has become a terminal illness, and the poor and sick have become the bottleneck for getting rid of poverty in some places. It is also a difficult point for medical poverty alleviation. I will work with the medical departments of the relevant provinces to continue to carry out some projects in the field of medical poverty alleviation.

Rural doctor training program: In 1999, the State promulgated the "Physician Law", which put forward clear requirements for practicing doctors in China, and the one-year system and the one-and-a-half-year-old village doctors who started training in 1989 did not meet the national requirements. In order to improve the business level of village doctors, Ed has started a correspondence program for secondary school education in 1999. In June 2003, the first batch of 861 students from Gansu, Sichuan, and Ningxia who graduated in 1999 graduated. There are still 4,384 students currently studying and will graduate this year and next year. In addition, I will also train 300 township doctors from Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Qinghai and Guangxi with a half-year shortage of majors, including first aid, surgery, gynaecology, anesthesia, internal medicine, pediatrics and imaging.

Village Health Center Aid Project: As a support for the village medical training program, we launched a village health center assistance project for the reality of no clinics in poor mountain areas. In 2003, 38 clinics were built in Lund County, Tongxin County and Guyuan County in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The project was highly valued and warmly welcomed by the Ningxia health authorities, and it believed that this contributed to the construction of a complete rural medical network. With the support of the local government departments, these clinics have gradually developed into local medical service centers, integrating medical, maternal and child health, immunization and family planning guidance, which greatly facilitates local people to see a doctor and seek medical treatment. The land has inspired the enthusiasm of the "Aide Village Doctor" for serving the people.

AIDS Publicity and Education Project: Continue to carry out AIDS publicity and education projects in Yunnan. With the support of the local religious and health departments, in the second half of 2003, the AIDS knowledge training program with the “two sessions” of the Christianity in Zhoukou City and Zhumadian City of Henan Province was launched, and three training courses were held, which received good publicity results among the grassroots. . At the same time, the AIDS orphans support project was launched in the relevant counties of Henan Province, and more than 600 were sponsored.

Tour medical: In order to facilitate the people in the western plateau to see a doctor for medical treatment, after Qinghai and Gansu, a mobile surgical vehicle was donated to the People's Hospital of Tibet Autonomous Region in 2003, which was warmly welcomed by local Tibetans. A medical team of 6 experts was also organized to travel to Xinjian County, Jiangsu Province, Zhangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, and 6 township health centers in Nan'an, Fujian Province. There were 4,665 patients and 57 local medical staff.

Gansu Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Project: Continued to implement the tuberculosis prevention and control project in Gansu, with a total of 9,354 people, 9,344 chest X-rays, 5,095 first-time outpatients, and 2,876 chest X-ray films. 2,064 active pulmonary tuberculosis patients, 99.9% of patients implemented short-course chemotherapy.

Physical and mental project: This is a project to promote the comprehensive development of poor villages, including a school, a health room and a women's activity center. Five projects were completed in Shangyi County of Hebei Province and Feixian County of Shandong Province. Only the physical and mental projects of Feixian County have now reached 26.

The Doctors Around Women published: The Doctors Around Women is a health manual prepared by the Western Foundation for rural women. The language is simple and easy to understand. It is very popular among rural women and has been translated into many languages. After two years of translation and revision, I will officially publish it last year and print a total of 140,000 copies. It has been donated to grassroots women's health care workers and rural women in 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.
