Our school held a comprehensive practical activity - visiting the Guangdong Science Center. The students are very happy! I'm glad too!

Today's weather is sunny and sunny, with a hint of sultry heat. Along the way, the car was full of laughter and laughter. The tour guide brother and we sang and told jokes... I had a good time. About an hour's drive, we went to the Guangdong Science Center. Looking from a distance, it looks like an aircraft carrier waiting to sail; from the air, it turns into a large kapok that blooms under the blue sky. It is the combination of this kapok and aircraft carrier, with a total construction area of ​​about 137,500 square meters in the Guangdong Science Center.

With the theme of “Nature, Humanity, Science, and Civilization”, the Guangdong Science Center interprets the relationship between man and civilization, man and science, and man and nature. It is a non-profit-oriented social welfare institution and a social science and technology activity venue that provides popular science education to the general public. “Human and Health”, “Flying Dreams”, “Children’s World”, “Traffic World”, “Digital World”, “Green Home”, “Perception and Thinking” and “Experiment and Discovery” are the eight theme pavilions. The building area is almost 60,000 square meters. 4 technology theaters, two open laboratories and a 2,500-square-meter “Digital Home Experience Pavilion”, as well as a temporary exhibition area with a building area of ​​20,000 square meters, to showcase the latest scientific and technological achievements at home and abroad. These are all "hidden" in the five "petals" of "Kapok".

Among the eight pavilions, I am most impressed by the “green home”.

Here, I got to know the general situation, growth environment and distribution of mangroves. I found that mangroves were originally a viviparous plant: the seeds of many plants in the mangroves began to germinate in the fruit when they had not left the mother, and grew into rod-shaped hypocotyls. After the hypocotyls develop to a certain extent, they leave the mother tree and fall into the silt of the beach. After a few hours, they can grow roots in the silt and become new plants. The hypocotyls that fail to be rooted in the silt in time can follow the current. Drifting on the sea for several months, rooting on the coast thousands of miles away. The most striking feature of mangroves is the dense and well-developed pillar roots. Many of the pillar roots emerge from the base of the trunk and are firmly plunged into the silt to form a stable support that allows the mangroves to stand under the impact of the waves. The pillar roots of the mangroves not only support the plants themselves, but also protect the coast from the erosion of wind and waves, so the mangroves are also known as "coast guardians."

Mangroves are often inundated with tidal water, and the air is very scarce. Therefore, many mangrove plants have respiratory roots, and the roots of the respiratory roots have large lenticels with spongy aerated tissue to meet the air demand of mangrove plants. . Every time the tide ebbs, all kinds of pillar roots and breathing roots are exposed to the ground, criss-crossing, making it difficult to pass...

Then we visited other pavilions. In this grand science center, we have learned a lot of things that are not in the book, and we have realized how the science of today's society is developing... This really benefits us!

The time to go back is coming, I am reluctant to leave the Guangdong Science Center.
