短篇英文小故事

故事標題:The Little Match Girl

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to play outside after dark with her matches. One cold winter night, she ventured out into the cold air with her matches, hoping to warm herself up.

As she walked along, she struck a match and held it up to the ground. It flamed up brightly, and she smiled in the warmth of its light. She continued to strike match after match, enjoying the brief moments of warmth they gave her.

She walked past an old abandoned house and noticed something shiny on the ground. She walked over and picked it up – it was a silver coin! She thought to herself, "I'll keep this for myself," and she struck a match to keep warm.

As she walked further, she came across a group of children playing in a nearby yard. They saw her holding the silver coin and wanted to trade some of their own toys for it. She agreed and struck another match to show them the coin.

As she continued walking home, she realized that she had no matches left. She held up her hand to the sky and wished for more matches. Suddenly, a sparkle fell from the sky and landed on her palm. It was a spark from a new match! She lit it and smiled, knowing that she had plenty of matches now.

The little match girl had learned an important lesson that night: money could not buy true warmth, but kindness and generosity could. She knew that she would always remember that night and the spark of kindness that fell from the sky.

That was the Little Match Girl's story. It may have been a cold winter night, but it taught her that warmth comes from within, not from outside things.
