譯文： Emperor Taizong of the Tang dynasty was reviewing his daily records and discovered that Wei Zheng presented many suggestions in the morning that made it difficult for him to keep track of all of them. He sent someone to listen in. Wei said, "I simply state what I want to do and do not speak much else. If you want to use them, they are not clear enough."

二則：唐太宗想要去南山遊玩，但因魏徵還病著，於是停止了計畫。唐太宗對侍臣說：「朕過去總是坐不安穩，現在即使想去遊玩，因有魏徵的勸誡而不敢越禮。」侍臣回答說：「這正是皇帝的憂慮在於陛下了。」

譯文： Emperor Taizong of the Tang dynasty wanted to go hiking in the南山, but due to Wei Zheng's illness, he postponed the plan. He told his ministers, "I used to find it difficult to sit still. Now, even if I wanted to go hiking, I would not dare to do so because of Wei Zheng's advice." One minister replied, "It is precisely because the emperor worries about the king that the king is now able to rest."
