Life whisper

a good sentence with a good attitude

A college student once told me: "I don't need to be happy, I just need to be successful."

At the time, I did not refute the student's point of view. After all, the students often said that they were astonishing, and I liked the content in their conversation.

However, once you recognize this claim, it has a disturbing feature. The student has abandoned happiness and is so sloppy. She seems to be saying: "Let's see what's more important" - career success.

This is a strange contrast. She does not need happiness - "only needs success." She sets a need to oppose another need.

This kind of thinking is very popular. In a university professor's studio, I listened to a performance class described by a drama professor. In class, he asked students to write a strong emotion that they experienced in their lives. Such as anger and jealousy.

What do they find most difficult to express? It is happy.

The words of the students express the voice of tomorrow. Their words are all visible symbols, but they express the struggle experience that every one of us will encounter but hard to see.

I still remember that in the college era - the school's school newspaper had a big headline: "Why are we not happy?" As the title says, there is a lack of happiness in our lives, although happiness is still on our life agenda. What choices do we make? Just like my successful student, I really gave up happiness?

Since I have classes on Monday, I have not had a good Sunday for a long time. In fact, this is just an expectation of anxiety for next week's work, fearing that there will be unexpected situations or, in a sense, failing to bring the work to the required standard.

Usually, when Monday arrived, I did a really good job. In most cases, what I worried about never happened.

Happiness has its own moral bottom line. There is a kind of total happiness, which does not allow us to reject the feeling that we as a person should try. Happiness is likely to exist in less glamorous behaviors. But to experience happiness requires more, and joy exists in the value of doing things.

My student who emphasized success separated her happiness from what she considered worthy of achievement, and separated her higher enthusiasm from her immediate desire.

True happiness requires choice, and this choice becomes a habit and further evolves into a human character. This is something we can't authorize to do.

The most basic approach is to try to live a less terrible life – a way to avoid life's possible collapse before detecting them. It has to bear the uncertainty that comes at random. This means that there will be a happy imperfection.

My eager student is uncomfortable because she is not perfect. She is too worried that she will not succeed.

I hope to tell her how happy I am today on Sunday.
