One of the two found in the two
On February 12, 1:1, a large hospital in London admitted a 43-year-old policeman, a dying patient already in shock. After the consultation, the experts thought that his sepsis was very serious and could not be saved. Therefore, Dr. Folltics, who is studying penicillin, decided to "dead horse as a living horse doctor" and used this police as the first patient in a clinical trial of treatment with penicillin. A needle of penicillin was scored, and then a shot was taken every 3 hours. The miracle appeared: after 24 hours, the condition improved significantly; on the third day, the police consciousness was clear; on the fifth day, the patient wanted to eat. However, on the sixth day, the penicillin cultured by Floridia had been used up, and the whole drug could not be found in London. Florin watched as the police's condition deteriorated again and finally died.
Was this treatment a success or a failure? Some people think it is a failure because the patient is still dead. Dr. Follley thought it was a success. He saw the power of penicillin from the changes in the police's condition. He is sensitive to the fact that the substance discovered by Dr. Fleming will be one of the greatest discoveries of this century and will likely save millions of lives.
3: In 1928, Fleming became a doctor at the Melley Hospital in London. The 47-year-old middle-aged is working hard to study the way to deal with staphylococci. One of the reasons for the wounding of the wound after the injury is that the staphylococcus is in the quail egg. Fleming cultivated staphylococci in a petri dish and then experimented with various agents to destroy them. This work has taken him a few years and still has nothing to gain - this staphylococcus is really a tough guy!
One morning in September, Fleming discovered that a green petite was growing in one of the petri dishes. Obviously, this is caused by some natural mold falling in. This made him feel lost because the culture in the petri dish was useless. Fleming was trying to pour out the moldy culture and suddenly had a thought: take it to the microscope and look down.
"Ah!" Fleming looked at the microscope and the emotions immediately became excited: near the mildew, staphylococcus died! Is this what he dreamed of, the nemesis of staphylococcus that has been pursued for several years? Fleming immediately cultivated this blue-green mold in large quantities, filtering the culture solution and dropping it into the staphylococcus. As a result, Staphylococcus died in a few hours. The filtrate is diluted 800 times and then dripped into the staphylococcus, it still kills staphylococci!
Fleming called this culture fluid penicillin. Next, he did a pathological test to inject penicillin into the mice, and the results were not affected, which proved that penicillin was not harmful to animals. He dripped the liquid into the eyes of the rabbit and found no abnormalities.
In June 1929, Fleming wrote his findings in a paper published in the British Journal of Experimental Pathology. However, you may not imagine that this paper has not attracted the attention of the medical community. Some people think that the nature of penicillin is very unstable and it is not worthy of further study. Fleming himself could not continue to study for various reasons. The newly born penicillin was blown into the cold palace.
Someone commented on the discovery of penicillin: "Fleming found that penicillin can be said to be both accidental and fortunate. This finding was caused by accidental simultaneous occurrence of three factors." One of the factors referred to here is that it fell to Frye. The mold in the petri dish is just secreting penicillin; the second factor is that the bacteria in the culture dish can be killed by penicillin; the third factor is that Fleming himself is doing the experiment, if it is someone else, almost It is certain that this petri dish mixed with "microorganisms" will be thrown away as usual.
This kind of statement cannot be said to have no reason at all. However, if you think about it carefully, you will know that this is inseparable from Fleming's painstaking efforts in the past few years. It is inseparable from his serious and meticulous work attitude. As the famous French microbiologist Pasteur said: "In the field of observation, opportunities only favor the kind of prepared mind."
