University Campus Environmental Initiative

Dear teachers, classmates, campus businesses:

Once upon a time, plastic shopping bags have become a necessity in our daily life. Plastic shopping bags can be seen everywhere in markets, supermarkets and shopping malls. While plastic shopping bags provide convenience for businesses and consumers, they also cause serious waste of energy resources and environmental pollution. The discarded plastic shopping bags scattered in the campus streets, teaching areas and living areas destroy the beautiful landscape of the campus and form a “visual pollution” on the campus.

A few days ago, the State Council issued the "Notice on Restricting the Production, Sale and Use of Plastic Shopping Bags". The notice clearly requires that from June 1 this year, the production, sale and use of ultra-thin plastic shopping bags with a thickness less than 0.025 mm will be banned nationwide, and plastic shopping bags will be implemented in all supermarkets, shopping malls, bazaars and other retail places. Plastic shopping bags are not available for free under the paid use system.

In order to actively respond to the call of the country, create a green and environmentally friendly campus, advocate the teachers and students of our school, campus businesses, consumer management does not forget social responsibility, and consciously raise awareness of conservation and environmental protection. The new era of college students is a new generation that has the courage to act and dare to take responsibility. Campus businesses are the disseminators of our school's environmental campus concept. Here we propose the following:

1. The campus merchants implement the paid use system for plastic shopping bags, and do not provide plastic shopping bags for free;

Second, the majority of teachers and students consciously raise awareness of conservation and environmental protection, self-prepared green shopping bags when shopping, refuse to use plastic shopping bags;

Third, do a good job of sorting garbage, properly dispose of used plastic shopping bags, and put them into classified garbage cans marked with "non-degradable garbage";

Fourth, actively promote the importance of reducing “white pollution” to relatives and friends around us, reject white pollution and build a green campus.

Let us act together to protect the campus environment and start by reducing the use of plastic shopping bags every day!
