Happiness "blooms"

After reading the book "Building Happiness in China", my thoughts shuttled between 60 years ago and now. I suddenly felt how happy I am now.

Sixty years ago, people ate wowotou. They could eat a meal of rice and white noodles all year round. It was a luxury. Other people have never seen it before, so they can’t even eat it. Now, we eat rice and steamed bread every day, and meat appears on the table more and more frequently.

Sixty years ago, people didn't buy a dress all year round. A piece of clothing could be worn for a few years. When it was broken, it would be supplemented and then worn. Unless you have something particularly important, you will be willing to buy one. Now, there is still an old dress in people's closet, all new.

Sixty years ago, people lived in mud houses. As soon as it was windy and rainy, the roof leaked, and the house was like a beast, making it creepy. Now, people in the city live in buildings, which are particularly strong and soundproof. The countryside has also built brick houses, and even some people have lived in the second floor.

Sixty years ago, people had no money, they couldn’t afford a car, and they had to have a “foreign car”, which became a rich family in people’s eyes. Nowadays, bicycles have been eliminated by people, and newer electric vehicles and locomotives have been replaced, and many people have opened cars.

Sixty years ago, the equipment in the hospital was very rudimentary, and the medical skills were not developed. It was not only troublesome for people to see a doctor, but also expensive. Nowadays, there are many large hospitals, and the equipments in the hospitals are also very complete. It is also convenient for people to see a doctor. With rural cooperative medical care, rural people are more convenient and cheaper to see a doctor.

Sixty years ago, it was a dirt road. It was raining. When you walked on the road, you would get mud, and the road was pitted, especially uneven. Now, it’s all asphalt roads. It’s just as good when it’s raining, and you don’t have to endure bumps anymore.

Sixty years ago, children played games like "jumping grid" and "spinning top". Now, the children are playing: electric train, remote control plane, Barbie doll.

Sixty years ago, China’s technology was underdeveloped. Now, with "two bombs and one star", "manned spaceships" have been made, "moon detectors" have been made, and our motherland has everything.

Sixty years ago, we Chinese were deposed as "sick people in East Asia". They were ridiculed by foreigners and bullied by them. This was because our motherland was not strong enough and had few economic sources. Now, our motherland has stood up and has become an economic power. We Chinese people are respected no matter where they go. They dare not look down on us.

Sixty years ago, today, just 60 years later, our motherland has developed from a weak country to a respected country, and this depends on our own Chinese efforts and our unyielding belief. The next step in the development of the motherland depends on our "flowers of the motherland". I believe that we can build a happier China and create a better future!
