Smile face every defeat

Last week, my granddaughter started kindergarten and I wished success. I lied. What I really hope is that she can fail because I believe in the power of failure.

Success is boring. Success simply proves that you can do what you already know, or do it right the first time, but this kind of victory is usually problematic. The first time you succeed, it is often a fluke. On the contrary, the failure of the first time is an unexpected thing and a natural law.

Failure is the way I learn. Someone told me an African proverb, it said that a good chef is "breaking a lot of pots and pans, you probably have mastered a lot of cooking. Once I went to eat with several chefs, they compared each other with a knife wound. And burns. They are very clear about the credibility that these mistakes bring to them.

I rely on a newspaper to write a daily column to make a living. I know that there will always be one of the worst columns per week. I didn't mean to write so badly; every day I will do my best to write, I know how to cherish every day's column. Success columns usually mean that I can only focus on topics that I am familiar with, apply old tricks, or decorate popular ideas with gorgeous rhetoric. The poor columns I wrote were due to the fact that I tried something that I hadn’t been involved with, or something I wasn’t even sure about.

My little daughter is an aerial acrobat. She spent three years completing a set of moves and successfully performed for many years. She has no reason to change this set of moves - but she still did it. She said she couldn't learn anything new and felt bored. So she made a change to this set of actions. She does not hesitate to fail and publicly ugly, just to satisfy her inner desire.

My granddaughter is a perfectionist. I can feel the failure, and I am willing to comfort her when she fails. However, I hope that I can still let her realize what she has learned from her failures and let her know how she can do better next time, no matter what. I hope that I can tell her that despite the failure, a failure is not the end of the world. In fact, fortunately, this will be a new beginning.
