Reading "Old Things in the South of the City"

"Beside the long pavilion, the ancient road side, the grass and the green sky. The evening wind smashes the Liu flute, the sunset mountain outside the mountain..." Whenever I saw this poem, I remembered my favorite book, "The Old Things in the South."

I really like the hero of the book, she is pure and kind, full of curiosity about life, and willing to contact everyone in life with sincerity. The chapter "The Legend of Hui'an Pavilion" in the book describes the friendship between Yingzi and the girl. They are really happy, nonsense, sing Hu, and the West wing is their happy nest, they even dream about it. Yingzi’s closeness and sympathy for the mad mother and daughter made me feel the warmth of the world, and the tragic fate of the mad mother and daughter made me sad.

In order to better understand this book, I also watched the film of the same name taken by director Wu Yigong in the 1980s. This film won many awards such as "China Film Golden Rooster Award". The outstanding performance of the young actor Shen Jie won the praise of Lin Haiyin, and finally they became the "every year."

Lin Haiyin said in the "Publishing Diary": "How much I miss the scenery and people who lived in the south of Beijing in childhood... Let the actual childhood pass, the childhood of the soul is saved." I think it is because the author is a child. The beautiful memories of time, the deep mourning for the hometown, can write such a popular work that is widely welcomed by readers.

The book "Old Things in the South of the City" is like a faint ink painting, telling the joys and sorrows of the world, and like a long homesickness song, singing the sweetness and bitterness of childhood. I love "The Old Things in the South", which makes me understand love, kindness, and sincerity; I love the author Lin Haiyin, she let me know the taste of literature; I like the lively and lovely Yingzi, she made me learn to be strong.
