The origin of Mother's Day

Today is May 12, 2019, it is Mother's Day. I will remember it with my heart.

The day originated in ancient Greece. On this day, the ancient Greeks paid tribute to Hebrew, the mother of the Greek gods. By the time of ancient Rome, the scale of these activities became even larger, and the celebrations often lasted for three days. Of course, the worship of the goddess in ancient times was nothing but a superstition. It is very different from today's respect for motherhood. In the middle of the 17th century, Mother's Day spread to the United Kingdom, and the British used the fourth Sunday of the fasting period as Mother's Day. On this day, young people who are away from home will return home and bring some small gifts to their mothers.

On November 13, 2006, Li Hanqiu, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, proposed the establishment of the Chinese Mother's Day with the title "Creating Chinese Mother's Day" and proposed that Mengmu can be the image of China's Mother's Day. In December 2006, the four Chinese “Mother's Day” core sponsors, including the Chinese Cultural Association's Festival Emblem Culture Committee, the Zoucheng Municipal Committee, the Beijing Oriental Moral Institute, and the Shijiazhuang Primary and Secondary School Students' Comprehensive Practice Activity Base, officially established the “Chinese Mother's Day”. The promotion meeting decided to set the second day of April of the lunar calendar, that is, Meng Mengsheng Mencius, as the Chinese Mother's Day, and decided to hold a series of celebrations on the occasion of the first Chinese Mother's Day. The mother's day, now popular in the world, is the second Sunday in May and was the first in the United States.

Third day: Li Yuxin
