Chinese New Year customs

In the past Chinese New Year, I just joined in with the adults. This year, I learned a lot about the customs and habits related to the Spring Festival.

Every family in the New Year's Eve must post Spring Festival couplets to show the meaning of spring. Every time, my grandfather chooses a good Spring Festival couplet. The last year of the election was: happy and prosperous, the next line is: good luck and more Fulian. The horizontal batch is: Ji Xing Gao Zhao. This is enough to predict a happy life in the new year.

Eating dumplings at midnight of the year is also essential for every family. Old people say that eating dumplings is good. Eating dumplings contains a very rich cultural significance. Dumplings are homophonic, that is, when they meet each other, they make a good fortune. Because the shape of the dumplings is like gold ingots, it also symbolizes reunion and wealth.

The New Year's Eve is commonly known as "breaking five", meaning that people have to go out of their homes for outdoor activities. This morning, my grandparents and my grandparents walked along the river bank from the General Pier to the Xinhua Wharf. Here is the skating rink, where men, women and children are crowded, and people dressed in colorful festivals and new costumes seem to have decorated the blooming flowers on the ice rink. Some people are skating, some are ice machines. There are also ice carts that go down from the heights on the ice road. Everyone is really happy!
