2019 Obama's inspirational speech

Hello everyone! Thank you. Thank you, everyone, please take a seat. Are you all right today? Tim Spicer? I am now with the students at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. Students from the National Elementary School to the 12th grade in the middle school are listening to the audience. I am very happy that everyone can participate today. I would also like to thank Wakefield High School for its excellent organization. Please applaud yourself.

I know that today is the day when many of you start school. For students entering the preparatory class, middle school or high school, today is the first day you come to the new school. It may be a bit nervous, which is understandable. I can imagine that some graduating students now feel very good--and graduated in a year. No matter which grade you are in, some of you may want to have a longer summer vacation and have a little more sleep this morning.

I understand this feeling. When I was young, our family lived overseas. I have lived in Indonesia for a few years. My mother didn't have the money to send me to a school in other American children, but she thought she must accept American education. Therefore, she decided to give me some lessons from Monday to Friday. But she still has to go to work, so I can only teach me at 4:30 in the morning.

You can imagine, I am not willing to get up so early. Many times, I fell asleep at the table. But whenever I complain, my mother will look at me like that and say, "Kid, this is not easy for me."

I know that some of you are still adapting to life after school. But I came here today because there are important things to tell you. I am here to talk to you about your education and the expectations of all of you in this new school year.

I have done many lectures on education issues. I have talked about responsibility issues many times.

I talked about the responsibility of teachers to motivate students and urge them to learn.

I talked about the responsibility of parents, to ensure that you take the right path, complete homework, don't sit in front of the TV all day or play Xbox games.

I have talked about the government's responsibilities many times, set high standards, support the work of teachers and principals, and thoroughly improve schools that do not provide students with opportunities for education.

However, even if we have the most dedicated teachers, the best parents and the best schools in the world - if you all do not fulfill your responsibilities, do not attend school, do not concentrate on listening, do not listen to parents, grandparents and other adults It doesn't matter if you don't have the hard work you need to succeed, then it's all useless. It doesn't matter. This is the point of my speech today: each of you is responsible for your own education.

I will first talk about your responsibilities to yourself. Each of you has your own strengths. Each of you can make your own contribution. Your responsibility to yourself is to find out where you are. And education can provide such an opportunity.

You may be able to be a good writer -- maybe even writing a book or publishing an article in a newspaper -- but you may not find your talent after completing the English class composition. You may be an innovator or inventor -- you might even design a new generation of iPhone or develop a new drug or vaccine -- but you may not find your talents after completing a science class experiment. You may be able to become a mayor or a senator or a judge of the Supreme Court - but you may not find your talents after attending the work of the Students' Union or the debate team.

No matter what your life ambition is, I am sure you must go to school to achieve it. Do you want to be a doctor, teacher or police officer? Do you want to be a nurse, architect, lawyer or military? You must be well educated in order to pursue any of these occupations. You can't expect to have a good job after school. You must be trained, work hard, and learn.

This is not only important to your personal life and future. It is no exaggeration to say that the benefits of education will determine the future of this country. The future of the United States depends on you. The knowledge you have learned at school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet the most serious challenges we face in the future.

You will need to harness the knowledge and problem-solving skills you have acquired through natural science and mathematics to cure cancer, AIDS and other diseases, develop new energy technologies and protect our environment. You will need to use your knowledge and independent thinking skills in history and sociology classes to fight poverty and solve homelessness, fight crime and eliminate discrimination, and make our country fairer and more free. You will need to use the creativity and wisdom you have developed in all classrooms to start new companies, increase employment opportunities and revitalize our economy.

We need each of you to use your ingenuity and skills to help the older generation solve the toughest problems we face. If you don't do this, if you drop out of school, you are not only abandoning yourself, but also abandoning your country.

I naturally know that it is not always easy to do academic excellence. I know that many of you are facing challenges in your life and it is difficult to concentrate on your studies.

I understand this. I have personal experience. When I was two years old, my father left home. I was raised by a single mother. My mother had to work and often struggled to pay for her living expenses, but sometimes she could not provide us with other children. thing. Sometimes, I am eager to have a father in my life. Sometimes I feel lonely and feel that I am not adapted to society.

I don't always concentrate on learning as I should. I have done some things that I can't be proud of now. I have provoked troubles that shouldn't be provoked. My life would have easily fallen into a worse situation.

However, I had a good time. I have had many second chances. I am fortunate to go to college, go to law school, and pursue my own ideals. My wife, our first lady Michelle. Obama has a similar experience. Her parents have never been to college, and the family is poor. But they are very hardworking, and so is she, so she has access to some of the best schools in the United States.

Some of you may not have those favorable conditions. Maybe no adult in your life gives you the support you need. Perhaps some of your family is unemployed and the economy is very tight. Maybe you live in a community that makes you feel unsafe, or have friends who force you to do things that you know are wrong.

However, in the end, the environment in which you live, your skin color, your origin, your economic income, the situation in your home, etc., can't be the reason why you don't work hard or don't work hard. You have no reason not to disobey your teachers, skip school, or drop out of school. There is no reason not to work hard.

Your current situation does not determine your future. No one decides your destiny. In the United States, you decide your own destiny. You have your own future.

This is what young people like you do every day, all over the United States.

Jazmin from the city of Rome, Texas. Peres is an example. She didn't speak English when she first started school. None of her parents have ever attended college. However, she is very hardworking and has excellent grades. She has received a scholarship from Brown University. She is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in public health and will soon become Jazmin. Dr. Perez.

I remembered Andoni in Los Altos, California. Schultz, who has been fighting brain cancer since he was three years old, has had to endure the pains of various treatments and surgeries, one of which has affected his memory, so he spent his time on homework. It is much longer than the average person, and it takes hundreds of hours more. However, he has never fallen behind. He will enter college this fall.

I also think of my hometown of Chantel in Chicago, Illinois. Steve. She lived in the most difficult community in Chicago and was raised in a number of different families, but she eventually found a job at a local medical center and started a program to help young people stay away from rogue gangs. After graduating from high school, I will go to college.

Jazmin, Andoni and Chantel are no different from each of you. Like you, they face challenges in their lives. In some cases, their situation is worse than many of you. But they refused to give up. They decided to take responsibility for their own life and their own education and set goals for themselves. I look forward to seeing you all doing this.

Therefore, today I appeal to each of you to set goals for your education and do your best to achieve them. Your goal can be a very simple matter, such as doing homework, attending classes, or spending a little time reading a book every day. Maybe you will decide to take part in extracurricular activities or provide volunteering in your community. Maybe you will decide to come forward and protect children who are being teased or bullied because of their identity or looks, because you and I think that all young people should have a safe environment suitable for reading and learning. Maybe you will decide to take better care of yourself so that you have more energy to learn. By the way, in addition to these things, I hope that everyone should wash their hands frequently, stay home and not go to school when they feel uncomfortable, so that we can prevent people from getting the flu in this autumn and winter.

But no matter what you decide to do, I hope you promise to do it. I hope that you can do it in a down-to-earth manner.

I know that sometimes you will get the impression on TV that you can make a fortune and succeed without having to do any hard work. Singing a minor, playing basketball or becoming a reality star is the way to success. But the reality is: you may not be one of them.

In fact, success is not an easy task. You won't like every subject you study. You won't be in a good relationship with every one of your teachers. Not all homework seems to be entirely related to life in front of you. The first time you try to do everything, it's not necessarily successful.

It doesn't matter all. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who have suffered the most. Author JK Rowling wrote a series of novels "Harry. The first part of Porter was rejected 12 times before being published. Michael. Jordan was removed from his high school basketball team. In Jordan's basketball career, he lost hundreds of games and tens of thousands of goals were not hit. But he once said: "In my life, I have failed again and again, again and again. This is the reason for my success."

These people are successful because they know that you can't let failure limit you, but you must let failure lead you. You must let the failure show you how to do this in a different way next time. So if you are in trouble, that doesn't mean you are a troublemaker, and that means you need to work harder to get it right. If you have a low score, it doesn't mean you are stupid than others, but only that you need to spend more time studying.

No one is naturally good at doing all kinds of things. You become good at all kinds of things through diligence. When you first engage in a new sport, you can't be a main player. When you sing a song for the first time, you can't sing every note. You have to practice. The same principle applies to your studies. You may have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right. You may have to read some materials several times to understand. Before handing over a beautiful essay, you definitely need to make a few drafts.

Do not be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask someone for help when you need help. I ask for help from others every day. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of strength because it shows that you have the courage to admit that you don't understand something. This will make you learn something new. Therefore, identify an adult you trust, such as a parent, grandparent or teacher, coach or counselor, and ask them to help you follow your established plan to achieve your goals.

Even when you are struggling, frustrated, and feel that others are not hoping for you, don't lose confidence in yourself, because when you give up on yourself, you also abandon your country.

Those who write about American history are not those who retreat in difficult times, but those who persevere and redouble their efforts. Their love for the country motivates them to go all out.

Writing American history is a student who sat in your position 250 years ago, who later waged an war of independence and created the country. There are also young people and students who sat in your position 75 years ago. They went out of the Great Depression and won a world war; they fought for civil rights and sent the astronauts to the moon. As for the students who sat in your position 20 years ago, they founded Google, Twitter and Facebook, which changed the way we communicate.

Today, I want to ask all of you, what contribution will you make? What problems will you solve? What will you discover? How will the president who will come here after 20, 50 or 100 years evaluate each of you? What does this country do?

Your family, your teachers and I are doing everything we can to ensure that you receive the necessary education to answer the above questions. I am working hard so that your classroom can be repaired and you will be able to get the textbooks, equipment and computers you need to learn. But you must also do your best. Therefore, I hope that all of you will take this issue seriously from this year. I hope that you will do your best to do everything well. I hope that each of you will have outstanding performance. Don't let us down. Don't let your family or your country down. And the most important thing is, don't let yourself down, and let us all be proud of you.

Thank you very much. May the Lord bless you. May the Lord bless the United States. thank you all.
