At the critical moment of the nation’s concerted efforts to fight the “5·12 Wenchuan Earthquake” disaster, I am very grateful to you for your first response to our initiative and to join our “Guangdong Psychological Assistance Love Alliance” to provide psychological crisis for the people in the disaster area. Intervention, psychological assistance and other voluntary services.

The devastating earthquake struck the country of Tianfu, and most of it was in China. The tragic disaster caused the billions of Chinese people to worry about it, so that the whole country could go to the rescue and rescue. At the moment of the disaster, when tens of thousands of children, firefighters, and white angels went to the front line of the disaster area, they were connected with the death of the soldiers, and rescued the victims from the rubble; when the compatriots in the disaster area frightened and horrified in the face of sudden disasters, When suffering, frustration... As professional psychologists, counselors and therapists, we know that for the survivors of disasters, this spirit is blind, lost and helpless enough to destroy them. Faith. Therefore, in our view, saving the psychology of survivors and rebuilding the spiritual home of survivors is as important as helping their flesh!

Therefore, on the third day of the disaster, we submitted an application to the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government Office in Guangzhou to organize psychological rescue volunteers to carry out psychological assistance actions in the disaster area, which was fully affirmed and strongly supported by the leaders of the Sichuan Office, and with Guangdong. A number of volunteer organizations such as Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, China Talent Quality Assessment Network, China Eap Service Center, China Psychological Alliance Information Network and other voluntary organizations jointly launched “Chuan and Yue Lianxin – Guangdong Psychological Assistance Love Alliance to save heart and heart”, as of May 23 We have received more than 300 application applications from caring psychologists at home and abroad. What impressed us is that 74-year-old Mrs. Elise W. snyder, a researcher at the American College of Psychoanalysts and a professor at Yale University School of Medicine, hopes to provide training support to volunteers through the international Internet. Mr. Tony Buon, former president of ips International Psychological Services Co., Ltd., said that he would go to China to participate in the volunteer training and related guidance of this action...

At present, we have undergone rigorous selection and systematic training. The first batch of volunteers consisting of doctors, masters and senior psychologists with rich clinical experience are ready to go. In view of the current water situation and epidemic situation in the disaster area, the relevant government departments have asked us to stand by and wait for the unified arrangement of departure for the safety of volunteers! At the same time, the second and third batch of volunteers are also being carefully selected.

We know that earthquake relief is a systematic task. The post-disaster psychological assistance work will also be a long-term and arduous long-term battle. As volunteers, we must have long-term and full psychological preparations! According to the actual situation of the disaster area, the “Guangdong Psychological Assistance Love Alliance” will organize volunteers to provide psychological assistance services to orphans, primary and middle school students and frontline employees of enterprises in the disaster area.

In view of the large number of applicants, strict professional requirements, limited quotas, etc., the volunteers who have already registered may not be able to go to the front of the disaster area to provide assistance. For this reason, we hope to get your understanding! We also hope that you can work diligently to do your job and use another practical action to support the disaster area and serve the motherland!
