As the name implies, all the words written for the various monuments are called inscriptions. The history of Chinese monuments has a long history. As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, there were monuments. The monuments at that time, such as the monuments in the palace, the monuments in the ancestral temple, and the monuments next to the tomb, are not engraved. The text, and later someone engraved the corresponding text, gradually formed various inscriptions. Inscriptions, there are broad and narrow meanings, narrow inscriptions, only refers to the words written for the inscription, the broad inscription refers to all the words engraved on the monument. China began to establish a monument from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, but the monuments in the ancient palaces were not engraved, but were used to take time for the shadows of the day; and the monuments in the ancient ancestral temples were not used for writing, used for tethering. The cattle and sheep; the monument on the tomb is only a wooden pillar, with holes in it, so that they can be worn with ropes, and when they are squatting, they will be twisted and squatted so that they will fall smoothly into the tomb. The monument, originally refers to the vertical stone, it is said that Qin Shihuang has a wordless monument on the top of the Qinshan Jade Emperor. The text engraved on the tablet is called the inscription, which is made for the engraving. Articles that are not made for the monument, although engraved on the tablet, cannot be called inscriptions. After the Qin and Han Dynasties, the tree monument is for engraving, there must be a monument to the text, and it does not pay attention to the wordless monument. Over time, the text and the monument are combined into one. When it comes to the monument, it means the inscription. The inscription was originally intended for use by the exploiting classes. The civilian population was not qualified to stand on the monument and could not stand the monument. Until then, the engraving of the custom has gone to the people.
