Why do most people like to be stable?

What is stability? Stability is not balance, stability is not permanent, and a stable scientific definition is strong against external interference.

In other words, stability is not about the state of good or bad, it is only about whether it can maintain its original state, even if this state is not so ideal.

The three balls in the above picture are in three "balanced" states. The small ball on the left is "stable". If it is moved a certain distance, as long as the distance is not too far, it can be restored to its original state; the middle ball does not have any stability and instability. If it is moved a certain distance, it can The new place is live and work; the small ball on the right is "unstable", and even if it is gently touched, it will fall all the way and never return to the original place.

Why is the ball on the left stable? Because it has the least energy. It is in the lowest of all possible positions, so the gravitational potential is minimal. Once it is disturbed, it can only be disturbed to a higher gravitational potential because there is no lower potential than its current position. In this way, as long as the external disturbance is removed, the ball will automatically return to the original equilibrium position under the action of gravity, so we say that it is stable. It does not require any external energy and can be maintained in its current position by its own gravity.

The ball on the right is unstable, and it can be ruined with a little bit of wind and grass. From left to right, it takes a lot of effort to reach this position. In order to maintain such a position, it must also continuously input external energy to resist any possible disturbances. In other words, it must be treated with enthusiasm, and it will continue to fight, otherwise it will slip from this position.

What do I want to say? What does this have to do with people who don't like stability?

If you feel that you are stable, you can maintain your current position without any effort, because you are in the "minimum energy" state. You don't work hard, you don't fall, there is no consequence, it's not because you don't fall, just because you have reached a very low point, there is no lower place nearby.

Maybe you will say: How can this be? I am stronger than many people, and it is impossible to be at the lowest point. That’s right, so I’m talking about “very low”, not “lowest”.

“All animals are born equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” Perhaps your extremely low point is higher than the extreme high point of many people. Maybe you don't realize it, you have it, but it may be what others are trying to pursue. Maybe you will understand that you are desperately chasing, but it is the starting point of others.

I am not an advocate of "successful learning". I don't think that "climbing up" must be good. I don't even think that the phrase "people go up high, water goes down" makes sense.

I just think that such "stability" is invisible and a restraint. Even if you want to go out and see it yourself, sometimes you will be crushed by your own gravity, and you will pull yourself back to the original position.

“Stable” means losing the possibility of change, whether it is good or bad. "Stable" is good because it eliminates the possibility of deterioration; but "stability" also has disadvantages, because it may also be banned. Whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, or the disadvantages outweigh the benefits, you need to measure yourself.

I personally feel that the road to life is so wide, and there are so many possibilities, intentionally or unintentionally tied to the "stable" basin, more or less suspected of sitting in the sky. Walk more, take a look, pull up the sails to see the real sea, even if you need to pay a lot of effort, even if there is the possibility of storms, it is better than lying comfortably in the "stable" haven.

When one day, you broke away from the "stable" shackles, overcoming your laziness and inertia, and after a hard fight, finally stood at the extremely high point of instability. Maybe you will feel that the rest of life is a smooth road.

But life is not two-dimensional, there are too many problems you have to face.

Perhaps you will find that the peak in one direction is just the bottom of the other direction, and the road ahead is too long and too long.

Finally, one day, you find that the real life is like this - ups and downs, twists and turns, sometimes into the bottom, sometimes even dark.

Knowing the reality of life, I am still willing to step out of the "stable" small oasis and embark on the thorny but picturesque road. I think this is truly brave and optimistic.
