Feelings of reading "Chinese Myths"

There are so many things in our lives that we need to accomplish. But to do everything well, it is not enough to rely on our own ambitions. There is a legend about the rule of Dagu in the "Chinese Myths", which inspired me.

It is said that during the imperial concubine, floods often occurred in the Yellow River Basin. In order to stop the flooding and protect agricultural production, Emperor Sui has called a tribal leader to meet and seek solutions to control water and calm the water. I was recommended to take care of this work. After accepting the task, he used a simple dike to enclose the residential area to prevent floods. He could not succeed for nine years, and was finally killed by Emperor Yan of the Han Dynasty. After Emperor Sui’s succession, he used his son’s son to rule the water. Introducing the flood into the dredged rivers, depressions or lakes, and then connecting the four seas, thus calming down the floods, enabling the people to move back from the highlands to live in Pingchuan and engage in agricultural production. Later, he became the first king of the Xia Dynasty, and was called "the god" and passed on to later generations.

In the process of Dagu's water control, many touching stories have been left. According to legend, he used his original measuring tools—standard ropes and rules—to walk up and down the river, use the axe to open the gantry, and cut through the stone mountain and the bronze gorge to make the river unimpeded. He ruled the water for 13 years, and he did not enter the house after three times. Even his own newborn child had no time to caress, and he was not afraid of hardships. He was the leader and the hair on his legs was polished in labor. He is the first hero in China's history to successfully manage the Yellow River flood.

The reason why Dagu Zhishui succeeded was because he was able to learn from the successes and failures of his ancestors, to be good at brains, to discover, summarize and use the laws of nature, to fear hardships and obstacles, to be a leader, and to work hard. His great achievements have been sung by generations for thousands of years. Dagu's rule of water is not only a historical phenomenon and historical merit.
