Kai-fu Lee: Good-bye, Google

Kai-fu Lee: Good-bye, Google

Time flies, time has passed a four-year rush, looking back at my career in Google for the past four years, all the happiness, achievements and difficulties and frustrations I have faced, all of this as a movie in my mind It flashed constantly. At the time of this separation, I can't help but feel mixed. In the past four years, Google China has grown from a small prototype to a company that has been stable, mature and on track.
Throughout the four years, I have worked hard to bring the spirit of Google's "equality, innovation, happiness, and fearlessness" to China. This process is not always smooth, but we adhere to our beliefs and values, and maintain a strong patience and intensive work.
We suppress the desire to make cooler, more dazzling products and work hard to find the best Chinese search. Today, Google China's search quality is the most accurate, complete and most immediate. After optimizing the Chinese search, we opened dozens of products and made Google China's territory clearer. Among them, Google Maps, Google Mobile Maps, Google Mobile Search, and Google Translate have all reached China's first. In addition, the launch of music search allows netizens to enjoy genuine free music for the first time, creating a new model for global music downloads.
What makes me unforgettable is that our employees who love China face the timely products and contributions made by snowstorms, earthquakes and windstorms. It confirms that Google Chinese loves Google and loves China, which confirms that Google Chinese can be both innovative and caring.
When I walked into the cafe at random, I saw young people using Google's integrated search query information, using maps to view real-time traffic, picking their favorite "skins" on iGoogle, or listening to genuine songs with Google Music, I There will be a smile from the heart.
Google is a great and lovely company. I am very grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build Google China from scratch. At Google, I learned too much, whether it's Internet technology, innovation models, and values.
For Google, I have no regrets now, but there is still a flaw in my life that has not been realized. I want to make up for it. In the past 20 years, I have had the privilege of learning and growing around Jobs, Gates, Schmidt, etc. I have the privilege of going through Apple in the PC era. I have the privilege of going through Google in the Internet era. I am fortunate to see three world-class ones. The success of the company's growth, I was fortunate to have done the most creative work in these two places when Shibuya and China's Zhongguancun rose. I have more knowledge in the field of technology and a better understanding of the secrets of business success. These professional experiences are my most valuable assets, and I very much hope that these assets can be passed on to Chinese youth.
My next step is to create a novel technological miracle with Chinese young people. I want to use my initiative to be a master of the overall work. I have already reached this stage of life, and I will not do it again. I am really scared to come.
So, although Mountain View in California once again extended an olive branch to me, I hope that I will renew for another four years, but I have made a heartfelt choice at this moment. I hope to help young people to dream and to round their own. Business dreams.
This weekend, I was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief from business development, strategic planning, departure announcement, and work handover. This weekend, I will straighten out my ideas. Next week, I will share with you my "Select from Heart" program.
Whenever I think of a step I will take, I will remember the famous words of Apple founder Jobs:
"The most important thing is to have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Your inner heart and intuition know how much you really want to be. Anything else is secondary."
