Fan Wen: On the situation of the motherland in the Taiwan Strait

Before the "5.20" speech, on May 17, the Taiwan Affairs Office and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council were authorized to issue a statement on the current cross-strait relations issue, stating that we have clearly stated our views on the current cross-strait relations and pointed out that "Taiwan independence" has no peace and split. He stubbornly adhered to the "Taiwan independence" stance, abandoning the "four no ones" commitment; refused to recognize the one-China principle and the "92 Consensus" until the original form was revealed, throwing out the "one country on one side" paradox; openly proposed the "2006 referendum" The constitutionalization, the implementation of the new Taiwan Constitution in 2008, and the "Taiwan independence" timetable of "making Taiwan a normal and complete country" provoke the one-China principle, the Chinese government and the Chinese people, and the international community. The severe cross-strait relations and the crisis of peace in the Taiwan Strait are clearly placed in front of all Chinese people, including the Taiwan compatriots, and the entire international community. Chen Shui-bian has become a "crisis maker" for Taiwan, the two sides of the strait and the international community. Whether or not to adhere to the one-China principle is the focus of our struggle against Chen Shui-bian and all "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. There is only one China in the world. The two sides of the strait belong to the same China. It is history and the status quo. It is also a fact recognized by the international community. Any denial, disparaging and distortion is futile. The practice of cross-strait relations development has proved that the one-China principle is the cornerstone of the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and the protection of compatriots on both sides of the strait. Adhering to the one-China principle, the Taiwan Strait is peaceful and stable, and the two sides are mutually trusting and reciprocal. Deviating from the one-China principle, mutual trust between the two sides of the strait is not there, and the situation in the Taiwan Strait is tense. The one-China principle is a fundamental issue of the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation and a matter of national sovereignty and territorial integrity. The position of the Chinese government and the Chinese people is unwavering and there can be no compromise. No force or anyone should expect any room for bargaining on the one-China principle. The 1.3 billion Chinese people will never tolerate the split of "Taiwan independence." Realizing the complete reunification of the motherland is the common aspiration of the Chinese people at home and abroad and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation. The Chinese Communists have always regarded the realization of the complete reunification of the motherland as their historical mission, and have made unremitting efforts for this. The smooth return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland is an important milestone in the process of the reunification of the motherland and the historic contribution of the Chinese Communist Party to the Chinese nation. To advance the great cause of the reunification of the motherland, we must finally resolve the Taiwan issue. Without the complete reunification of the motherland, there will be no national rejuvenation in a complete sense. Realizing the complete reunification of the motherland and safeguarding the security of the motherland is the fundamental foundation for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the unshakable strong will of all Chinese people. No matter how many difficulties and obstacles on the road to realizing the complete reunification of the motherland, all Chinese and all Chinese people on both sides of the strait will proceed from the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation and work together. The complete reunification of the motherland and the comprehensive rejuvenation of the nation will surely be realized.
