Success based on attitude towards time

Dr. Edward Banfield of Harvard University has conducted many years of research on the dynamics of American society. He wants to find out why some people are richer than the first generation, while most people do not.

After several years of experimentation with different assumptions, he finally came to a conclusion. That is to say, in the United States or in other societies, success is mostly related to attitudes. Success is based on the individual's attitude toward time.

Banfield called this conclusion "the concept of time." He found that those who succeeded were people with long-term ideas. They use long-term perspectives when planning daily, weekly, and monthly activities. They will plan for five years, ten years, or even twenty years of future plans. They allocate resources or make decisions based on what they expect to be in a few years.

On the other hand, Dr. Banfield found that those who failed had only short-term ideas. They hardly make long-distance plans. They are more concerned with immediate interests than future successes and achievements, focusing on short-term joy rather than long-term economic security and success. Because of this attitude, they choose short-term plans and lead to long-term hardships.

This finding is arguably the most important of all successful studies. This means that in order to reach the limits of achievement, you must plan your life and career with a long-term perspective.

You must work hard for a few years before you can reach the limit of your ability to make money and let you enjoy the desired lifestyle. Be sure to pay the price first, and continue to work hard for a few years before you can achieve truly valuable goals. You must have a long-term vision.

No matter which line you want to go out of, you have to invest at least five years to prepare. No matter which line you are doing, if you want to excel, you must be fully prepared for the whole five years. It takes a long time for you to develop enough professional skills to sell successfully in a highly competitive market. A long-term vision of a career is an important condition for a great success.

Now, I am not saying that you have to commit to five years of time, concentrate on selling your current company or service for your current company, and then do other things. As technology, products and services change rapidly, you will find that within a year or two, you need to sell different products for different companies.

The long-term concept of time for your sales career is that you must be willing to invest five years to become a person who can really enjoy the sales career.

This long-term commitment will completely change your attitude towards training, day-to-day work, customers, yourself, the community, and other jobs. In our society, good people have long-term plans for themselves and their lives.
