From October 24 to 25 this year, China will host the 7th ASEM Summit in Beijing. Second, the Asia-Europe Meeting should be a platform for comprehensive and multi-disciplinary cooperation between regions. The Asian and European parties are important players in globalization. They should continue to explore effective and concrete ways to strengthen comprehensive exchanges and pragmatic cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, science and technology, culture and education, and move from dialogue to action to enable the people of Asia and Europe. Really benefit and achieve mutual benefit and win-win.

Third, Asia-Europe cooperation should be a model for achieving harmonious coexistence among nations. 2008 is a historic year in the history of Chinese veterinary medicine. In April this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology listed the modernization technology and research and development of Chinese veterinary medicine for the first time in the “Eleventh Five-Year” National Science and Technology Support Program. At the end of 2004, 46 experts signed and submitted a “Proposal on Establishing a New Food Safety and Security System as Quickly as Possible” to the State Council. At the beginning of February 2005, Premier Wen Jiabao stated that "the experts' suggestions are worthy of attention and should be supported." At the beginning of January 2007, six experts sent a letter to the Minister of Science and Technology Xu Guanhua, clearly proposing the proposal of “Research and demonstration of key technologies for the industrialization of Chinese veterinary drugs”. The proposal was supported and adopted by the Ministry of Science and Technology. From mid-July 2007 to June this year, the project of “National Veterinary Drug Modernization Technology Research and Development” was completed in the “Eleventh Five-Year” National Science and Technology Support Program. Throughout the project, China Agricultural University, China Academy of Inspection and Quarantine, Beijing Agricultural College, Zhejiang University, China Veterinary Drugs Supervision Institute, Lanzhou Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Research Institute and other units have given strong support and cooperation. The project is divided into two levels: “Key technologies for common research and development of Chinese veterinary drugs and key technologies for the standardization of industrialization of veterinary drugs” and “Development and development of veterinary drug products for livestock and poultry”. Seven topics have been set, including the model of Chinese veterinary diseases and the key to industrialization. Technology as well as antiviral, antibiotic resistant, antiparasitic, immunomodulatory and vaccine adjuvants, Chinese medicine additives, etc. The project allocates 30 million yuan, involving more than 40 participating units and nearly 200 scholars and researchers in the Chinese and Chinese veterinary fields. This is a major event in the history of modern Chinese veterinary development. Therefore, in order to develop veterinary science in our common cause, more units, more people, and more project support are needed. This requires us to join hands and work together to push the Chinese veterinary cause to a new peak through the “Eighth Five-Year” National Science and Technology Support Program.
