In April 2019, Prof. Yan Xigui, a professor of ancient literary studies, and two other famous scholars jointly wrote a letter of recommendation, together with the application of Fudan University, to the Ministry of Education, requesting the approval of a 38-year-old tricycle with only a high school diploma. He finally opened the school gate of Fudan University as a “quasi-doctoral student”. The tricycle driver is Cai Wei.
Since childhood, Cai Wei likes ancient literature very much. He also likes to practice calligraphy. He did not expect that when he was in Linyi, he had a strong interest in ancient Chinese characters. At the beginning of Gao Yi, Cai Wei’s language scores have already excelled. Sometimes Chinese teachers will ask him if they encounter unfamiliar words. In the second year of high school, Cai Wei accidentally saw a paper by Prof. Yan Xigui in the "History of Literature", and was deeply attracted by the discipline of the study of ancient scripts - "the national small". However, due to poor math and English scores, Cai Wei did not cross the college entrance examination. After graduating from high school, she became a worker in a hose factory.
Due to the poor economic efficiency of the hose factory, Cai Wei was laid off three years later. He first set up a stall at the entrance of a shopping mall to maintain his livelihood, and then picked up the tricycle. For material life, Cai Wei did not have too high a requirement. In addition to his work, he regarded ancient writing research as his own spiritual sustenance.
Whenever the time can be drawn, the great part of Cai is soaked in the Jinzhou Library, where Cai Wei is reading the ancient classics. However, there are many ancient books in the library that cannot be borrowed. The copy is too expensive for Cai Wei, so he came up with a trick: copy. The two obscure "national small" books in "Dang Dialect" and "Erya" were also copied by him in full text, and they were reversed. On the title page of the handwriting "Erya", Cai Wei also wrote "the micro-sense is fine, since the Hongwen", meaning to accumulate from the subtleties, work hard, and finally achieve great achievements, this is his self-confidence, It is also a dream that has always been hidden in his heart.
Some people don't understand Cai Wei's behavior and think he is a bit stupid. "A street stall, three rounds, and time to read a book, really sour." "The rice is not enough, and there is still time to read the 'book of leisure', it is really not business." But for Cai Wei, the sense of accomplishment that the ancient texts brought to him cannot be expressed in words.
In 1995, Cai Wei, who had always insisted on self-study, wrote a letter to Professor Yan Xigui. In the academic circle, Professor Yan’s rigor and pragmatism is notorious. After reading some academic opinions put forward by Cai Wei, Professor Yan greatly appreciated and wrote back to encourage him: “It’s not utilitarian, hard work, and admiration.”
In 1997, Professor Yan Xigui published an article on "Shenwu Fu" in the "Relics". The article refers to the simple article "Shenwu Fu" unearthed from the Yinwan Han Tomb. The "Zuozi" is unclear. After seeing the article, Cai Wei wrote a letter telling Professor Yu that "Zuozi" should be read as "Xunzi", that is, "嗟", which is an interjection. Later, Professor Yan published an article in the "Relics", "Zuozi" should be read as "Xunzi", and enthusiastically praised Cai Wei "the words are very reasonable."
After 2003, Cai Wei published a number of articles on the Chinese learning network. "He doesn't write much, he is very cautious. What is rare is that he can combine the unearthed documents with the handed down documents." Professor said, some ideas of Cai Wei Very insightful, "For example, Guodian Chu Tomb Bamboo Slips "Laozi" has a sentence "Mo Zhiqi" 亘', '亘' is usually regarded as 'Heng', which is not well understood from the meaning of words, Cai Wei proposed, Chu Jian I often write 'polar' as '亘', which has the ultimate meaning. It is very inspiring to me."
In September 2008, after being recommended by experts, Cai Wei came to Shanghai to participate in the finishing work of the project “Under the Mawangdui Han Tomb Integration” of the Unearthed Documents and Ancient Characters Research Center of Fudan University. After a period of cooperation, Cai Wei’s ability in ancient text research has made colleagues look at each other. In particular, Cai Wei has amazing memories of ancient books. Some graduate students in the research center need to find long-term information or historical facts. Cai Wei can immediately explain the source and quickly read the pages of a certain ancient book. This cooperation has led to a consensus among the professors of the Unearthed Literature and Ancient Chinese Studies Center of Fudan University: it is necessary to take the opportunity to recruit Dr. Cai Wei to become a professional in ancient Chinese studies.
In April 2019, under the strong recommendation of many experts and scholars such as Prof. Yan, Cai Wei, who had insisted on self-study for 20 years, finally got the opportunity of Cobb and finally passed the exam.
