Who pulled you towards mediocrity?

There is such an experiment: a long-distance runner participates in a five-person team competition. The coach told him before the game. As far as I know, the other four are not as good as you, so the athlete easily ran the first place. Later, the coach asked him to participate in a group of ten people. The coach showed him the results of other people. He found that others did not perform as well as himself. He easily ran the first place. Later, the athlete participated again. In the 20-person group competition, the coach said that if you defeat one of them, you will be able to win. As a result, he followed the coach's athlete in the game and won the first place in the final sprint.

Later, I changed a place. Before the game, the coach did not pass the other players. In the five-person team, he barely took the first place. Later, he slipped into the group of ten. In the second place, in the 20-player game, he only took the fifth place.

The actual situation is that the other athletes in each group are exactly the same level as the first time.

This can't help remind me of my story of going to school.

When I was a child, I was the leader of the class. I felt that the first place was not my own. After I was promoted to the middle of the country, there were more people. I felt that I could test the top ten. It was good. The name is smug. After high school, the goal is lower, even if the test is slightly different, it will comfort yourself: the master is so much, it is already very good. In this way, I stepped from excellence to mediocrity.

Yes, in life, people will never be told, the strength and ability of competitors. So in the face of more and more people around, we began to feel overwhelmed, or arrogant, and actively "arranged" themselves to a lower position. This may be a way forward for many people to go.

A famous entrepreneur once said that a good talent, his self-confidence is enduring. Yes, if a person lacks self-confidence, no matter how talented he is, he will not play it out. Even if he used to be a piece of gold and lacked self-confidence, he would let himself fade into a piece of iron, and even be willing to fall into a grain of sand, long-term drowning in the sand, not to be discovered by outsiders.

We were originally excellent. However, it is our lack of self-confidence, which has pulled us down from the excellent high level step by step and has been pulled to a mediocre position. Since the mediocrity, it is a disaster in life and a tragedy in life. Only, more often, we ourselves, directed the disaster and tragedy.
