Zuckerberg: Forging a "bowl" of great ability

A few days ago, Zunker, the founder of Facebook, came to Tsinghua University to give a speech in fluent Chinese and interacted with Tsinghua students. When a student asked about the secret of his success, he replied with an image metaphor: "Life is like a bowl. The bigger the bowl, the more water it can hold. Only by forging a large and capable bowl can you Do more things at the same time and gain more results."

Zuckerberg was born in New York, USA in 1984. He started writing software programs from middle school. In high school, he developed a synaptic media player music program, the prodigy's reputation rose overnight, and Microsoft and American online companies extended an olive branch to him. But he knew that his ability was far from enough and he did not agree.

In 2002, Zuckerberg entered Harvard University to study psychology and computational science. While at school, he eagerly learns his expertise and uses what he has learned for practice. During his sophomore year, he made a whimsy and established a website as a platform for classmates to communicate. In just one week, Zuckerberg established a website called Facebook. The website has been highly sought after as soon as it is opened. In a few weeks, more than half of Harvard students have become members. You can use this free platform to keep up with friends' latest developments and chat with friends. Soon, the site expanded to major US university campuses and spread throughout North America.

In 2004, Zuckerberg dropped out of school and concentrated on creating a Facebook website, and shouted to his peers the slogan "You are not as good as mine, if you want to join us, come on". The big geeks in the industry laughed at him as a boast, but Zuckerberg believed that he had the ability to achieve his goals in life. He moved the company to Palo Alto, a small town in Shibuya, and used his technical advantages to expand the influence of the website. By the end of 2004, the number of users exceeded 1 million.

In 2005, the development of the website not only suffered from the bottleneck of funds, but also caused a lawsuit to steal intellectual property rights. Zuckerberg was a bit discouraged. He knew that in addition to his technical superiority, his financing ability was weak and he once wanted to sell the company to Google.

But after careful consideration, Zuckerberg was somewhat reluctant. He knows that the company's development direction is correct. As long as you cultivate your own financing ability, you will suddenly become more open. He chose to persist, daring to negotiate with some investment companies, impressed them with the company's vision, and finally got the first investment of 500,000 US dollars, the company has a source of living water. Since then, it has won A$12.7 million in Series A financing and $27.5 million in Series B financing. The website's performance has soared and the traffic has surpassed Amazon and Disney.

The funding problem was solved, but it was in trouble in website marketing. Facebook's "Dynamic Messages" feature automatically aggregates your friends' various dynamics on the page. This move caused a large number of users to be dissatisfied because of the leaked privacy. In the face of a sudden marketing crisis, Zuckerberg immediately apologized and adopted a technical means of "users can customize the privacy disclosure" to correct the situation and calm down the storm.

In this incident, exercise has improved Zuckerberg's ability to market and deal with emergencies. In October 2007, he launched a customized advertising service business, which was greatly welcomed by customers and the business volume increased to 2.3 million. Since then, Zuckerberg has been able to operate the website more easily. In 2019, it launched a public offering of US$5 billion in financing, making it the largest IPO in the history of Silicon Valley.

Entering the Chinese market has always been Zuckerberg's long-cherished wish. In order to exercise communication skills so that Facebook can respect Chinese customs when developing in China, he insists on learning Chinese every day and spending a lot of time studying Chinese culture. I also often communicated with my Chinese wife, Priscilla Chen, in Chinese, so I got a hot scene of Tsinghua University’s “first show” in Chinese.

In just 12 years, Zuckerberg has grown from nothing to become the world's youngest richest man with $30 billion. These successes stem from his focus on cultivating his abilities in all aspects and forging a "bowl" of great ability.

Zuckerberg’s experience is worth learning from.
