Inspirational speech

In the age of doubt still needs faith

Don't be afraid of sleek people saying that you are not mature enough, don't worry about smart people saying that you are not wise enough, don't accept the life recommended by others as you like, choose to stick to it, choose your ideals, choose to listen to your inner voice, and have the most full life.

Dear teachers and dear students:

good morning!

Thank you for calling me home, so that I am fortunate enough to listen to the teacher's teachings again and share the special joy of my dear schoolmates.

As soon as I entered the house, the time was reversed. The beautiful videos, the speeches of the classmates, and the speeches of the teachers made me feel that all the young stories have not gone far. However, standing in front of you, dear classmates, I discovered that I am really old. In 1988, when I graduated from undergraduate studies, most of you were still not born. At that time, your Minister Lang Lang was still a handsome brother admired by the girls, and your teacher Yi Yi was in love with my fellow girls. Now, their children should take college.

Just like the song that I just sang, "The most beautiful spring in memory, it is difficult to look back yesterday." If we compare life to a journey of "realizing" our ideals, we are just a stack of cash with limited denominations, and you are the stock that will be listed soon. Starting from a piece of white paper, the future is far and wide, everything is possible. In the face of you, I am even lacking the courage to express the feeling of "coming people."

But my husband urged me to come, my friend also advised me to come, they are all 84-level Chinese department chiefs. Today, some are still a literati, poor and indifferent; some have already become a party, and they have become famous; some have made a fortune to become a "rich second generation", and some have divorced, and life is not satisfactory. However, when I was on the Internet, I heard that there is such an opportunity today. They all want me to come, represent them, represent the generation and say something to their younger siblings.

Yes, like you, we have studied in the Chinese Department, and even read the same course. The backs of the Qing Dynasty have been fixed by the sunshine of Yanyuan in the green wall of the five-yard Ivy. But that was the last century, and we have been between us for more than 20 years. At that time, we called it ideal. Today, you may laugh at it as a fantasy. At that time, we were popular scholars, and today you have to face the conversation. The hot words we are familiar with at that time are democracy, freedom, today’s you. Remembering is “scraping,” “hiding,” and “soy sauce.” At that time, we liked to wander in the triangle, and today you are used to being invisible to the great internet.

At that time, China was poor but full of pride. Today, the world’s second largest economy is struggling to find lost happiness. Countless young people like you like to use “囧” to describe their situation.

For more than 20 years, how far has China gone? The "triangular land" that stores our youthful memories has long since disappeared. The "One Tower Lake Map" that witnesses your youth's mood is creating a new history. Your generation has a far better condition than ours, more extensive insights, a more mature heart, and a higher starting point.

What we want to say is that standing at such a high starting point, starting from the Chinese Department of Peking University, you do not lack the shade of the masters of the predecessors, but also the scent of history and culture. The world of The Book of Songs and The Songs of the South, the thoughts of Lao Zhuang and Confucius and Mencius, and the poems of Li Bai Du Fu constitute the most exciting youthful time in your life. I don't need to remind you how the future will kill this romance and smash with concrete triviality; there is no need to remind you, what kind of mediocrity will life be used to dispel your ambitions; let alone remind you to enter the society and How to become pragmatic and realistic, because you will eventually be immersed in life.

My only fear is that you don't believe it anymore - don't believe that rules can overcome unspoken rules, don't believe that school is different from officialdom, don't believe that academics don't equal power, and don't believe that the wind is far better than flat bones. You may not believe it, because more and more pursuits of the level, less and less pursuit of truth; more and more treatment, less and less ideals; more and more officials, more and more masters less. Therefore, as you move toward society, all I want to say is, please take care of your passions and ideals. In this age of suspicion, we still need faith.

Maybe some classmates will laugh, and the master sister writes more editorials, so high tones. But if I tell you, this is my Chinese classmates. Do you have a little bit of attention if you have a common idea of what kind of life you are in today, and why would you think more about 20 years? They are still like this?

I know that compared with our generation, the socialization of your generation has already begun before you set foot on the society. The prosperity of the country is concentrated in your college days, but the problems of society are also highlighted in your youth. . You have opportunities that we don't have, but there are challenges that we have never experienced.

Literary theory can't identify the ingredients of tainted milk powder, and the classical literature can't stop the flooding of the ditch oil. When interests become the only value, many people regard faith, ideals, and morality as the bargaining chips. I am worried that "suspicion" will become the "shredder" that denies everything and deconstructs everything in our time? Will we because Desperate and drifting, becoming the "exquisite self-interest" that Mr. Qian Liqun said, so old, good at performing, know how to cooperate? The North Conference will not be like the young Japanese: "There are talents, but Do not train elites?

I have a colleague from Tsinghua University who started from the university and claimed to be "the follower of Peking University". He is very respectful to Peking University. When talking about the rumors of the "Great Qing Dynasty Northern Great Wilderness", he said to me seriously: "What this society needs more is not the adaptation of Peking University, but the adherence of Peking University."

This reminds me of Mr. Chen Ping’s words in the Chinese Department for a hundred years. He mentioned that the old photos of the Southwest Associated University gave him a touch: a group of ragged intellectuals, standing in the sky between heaven and earth. This should be the image of Peking University in the eyes of the Chinese. No matter where you are in the future, no matter what career you are in, you can always ask yourself. As a Peking University, do we still have that kind of spirit? The spiritual charm, the fulfilling life, the heart of heaven and earth. "Is the life of the people, the sacred sacred", can it still resonate in our hearts?

Marx once sighed that France does not lack wise people but lacks people with bones. Today's China also lacks wise people but lacks people with faith. Therefore, the education given to us by the Chinese Department is especially precious. Starting from the teachings of my alma mater, my greatest revelation from social life for more than 20 years is that when many of my peers are trapped in the wheel of the times, those who are spared are not only strong but also because of their faith. Don't be afraid of sleek people saying that you are not mature enough. You don't have to care about smart people. You are not wise enough to accept the life that others recommend to you. Choose to stick to it, choose your ideals, and listen to your inner voice to have the most full life.

Mr. Liang Lan wrote a book, "Will this world be alright?" I really like the title of the book. It raises the big question of life with simple questions. Is this world going to be good? Things are man-made, and the weight and quality of China in the future is in the hands of everyone.

Finally, I want to give the words of a scholar to my dear schoolmates - no matter what China is, remember: the place where you stand is your China; how are you, what about China; what are you, What is China? If you have a bright future, China will no longer be dark.

thank you all!
