Today is the seventeenth birthday of New Oriental. Today, seventeen years ago, on November 16, 1993, I took back the first license of New Oriental from the Education Bureau of Haidian District, Beijing. From then on, the development of New Oriental from scratch, from small to large .
In the seventeen years, from the two dilapidated bungalows in Zhongguancun to the New Oriental Building in the West Zone of Zhongguancun; from the first class with only 13 students, to the training of more than two million in the New Oriental Year today; from a small Small training schools to today's US listed companies; New Oriental has experienced a lot of wind and rain, and is constantly growing in the storm.
I can go all the way to today, not because I have any special skills, but because I am accompanied by you all the way. From the beginning, I left Peking University alone, carrying a house that was rented into the house rented by the peasants. One person brushed the paste in the cold in the winter, and then several teachers joined, and several laid-off workers at that time. Helping to manage the logistics of New Oriental, and then friends from my university and middle school to join New Oriental, more and more people in New Oriental. As of today, we have a team of nearly 20,000 faculty and staff, we all have a common name - New Oriental! It is precisely because of your existence that New Oriental has been steadfast in its arduous journey; it is because of your participation that New Oriental has the power of the team and thus no longer fight alone; it is because of your efforts that the New Oriental has a long journey. Together we have created the glory of the New Oriental, and only when we are together can we innovate the more brilliant future of the East! I deeply know that New Oriental is not enough for everyone's return and care. From the very beginning, New Oriental advocated humanistic care, but in the process of rapid development of New Oriental, many times, this culture of humanistic care was not implemented. New Oriental has caused many faculty and staff to lose, suffer, disappoint, and even leave; many people have recalled that New Oriental has no warm feelings and no warm memories. Although the performance of New Oriental has risen, the data is good, but I feel that these years New Oriental is not successful, because we are caught in the whirlpool of data, forgetting that only true love for people can make a cause a great cause for the future.
At the New Oriental Executive Meeting last month, I proposed to the management of the New Oriental East that the "Caring Culture" is the core of the New Oriental. Let us care for the staff, care for the students, care for the parents, care for the community! Some time ago, I told a story to the New Oriental middle and high-level management cadres that the owner of a rice shop wanted to change the scales in the store from 16 to 15 halves because of the fierce competition. In this way, we have entered the track of benign development. Together with New Oriental's educational dreams, we can make a great cause. All of this needs to start from me, review the past, and I am doing very badly. Looking forward to the future, I hope that I can take the lead in carrying out the "Caring Culture" and "Humanistic Care" of New Oriental, not only from the behavior, but also from the system to further improve, so that the New Oriental is truly a place to pass love and feel warmth. .
In the past seventeen years, the growth of New Oriental has just begun; at the age of seventeen, New Oriental is still a young boy; along the way, we have achievements and continue to make mistakes. It is not terrible to make mistakes. As long as we can reflect on our mistakes in time and correct our mistakes, we can thrive. I believe that New Oriental has the ability to correct mistakes because we don't want to stop here because we are still aspirational because we hope that the future will be better than today!
