It began three weeks after the official entry into the Jinan Psychiatric Hospital on August 5th. Recall that this is not too long, but because of the days of the first experience, formal employment and many other meanings, my feelings are still profound.

I remember going to the mental hospital for the first time. I and Jiang Yuzhen were on the 81 bus bus. Because I was afraid of being late, I checked the route in advance and then set off for several hours in advance. However, there was no bus that went directly to the hospital . After walking for more than ten minutes by asking for directions, we finally found the hospital ... The first time I met, the hospital gave me a feeling of being too quiet. It was not like the hospital I usually know.

On the afternoon of August 5th, we officially reported to Director Wu of the Psychiatric Hospital. After a brief conversation, Director Yang Yong officially met with us and briefed us on the hospital and the arrival of our social workers. Welcome and value. From the afternoon of the same day to August 9th, the former hospital social worker Zhang Liping gave us pre-job training. The training includes: the general situation of the hospital , the contents of the work of the Civil Affairs Bureau, the part of the hospital that is involved in the "intimate civil affairs", the specific department setting and duties of the hospital , the work content of the hospital social work department, the reception, care and management of the mentally ill and the patient. The hospital 's treatment work for veteran cadres and veterans. After a detailed familiarity with the hospital , Director Yang once again talked with us and asked us to come up with a specific work plan. At the same time, Jiang Yuzhen and I, on the basis of helping to complete the work of the office, began to enter the nursing home, and worked on the eight anti-American aid and old heroes who are currently in the process of recuperation, including: chatting with the elderly, understanding their experiences, ideas and life care. Requirements, etc.; with the teachers of the recuperation department to carry out small game activities suitable for the elderly, such as basketball shooting competition, playing billiards, playing mahjong, etc.; helping the elderly to check the body and so on. Due to the increasing number of female patients in the hospital and the difficulty of nursing work, Director Yang arranged for us to enter the fifth ward of the hospital , namely the female ward of the hospital . This kind of arrangement is also for the director to give us a more comprehensive understanding of mental hospitals and mental patients. However, for the first time, we are still scared and embarrassed to face so many mental patients. Fortunately, there are so many doctors and nurses who talk to us in time to teach us about mental illness and how to communicate with patients. Eliminate our fears. So far we have been working in the ward for two weeks.

Recalling the work of this stage, from the initial excitement to the later and then to the present, I think that I also experienced the process of moving from theory to practice and from fantasy to down-to-earth. I remember that the hospital leaders often asked us what we wanted to do after we came to the hospital . What we wanted to do was really awkward at the time, because it was because we didn’t understand it because we didn’t have experience. However, when I saw the office of the Social Work Division of the hospital , I was very excited when I heard a lot of people talking about the new social workers. This at least indicates that the hospital supports social workers, and colleagues also know social workers. This is the credit of Zhang Liping, who has worked here for a year. She has laid such a good foundation for our future work.

At the same time, I also have a lot of ideas for my work. For example: to establish a file of social work in hospitals , and further expand the impact of social workers. I want to record every progress in social work in a timely manner, set up a small blackboard to promote social workers in the hospital , let the staff and patient families know the existence of social workers, social workers can help them to do something, etc.; enter the community around the hospital to carry out activities, For example, publicity of mental illness prevention, nursing knowledge, hospital conditions, etc.; work in hospital staff. If you try to change the shuttle bus according to the situation, it is the fixed seat arrangement and the seat in the restaurant, so as to strengthen the communication and promote the harmony of the relationship; try to find the family members of the patients in need to carry out cases, group work, etc.; Old-age service work carried out by the old soldiers.

In addition to continuous efforts, there are still many confusions and ideas in the work, such as:

I don't know how to carry out social work for mental patients. The special condition of the mentally ill patients themselves determines that there can not be too much mood swings, so we can't talk about their family affairs and can't ask their hard things. And because of the weakness of the patient's physical condition and the limitations of the level of knowledge, there are few small activities that can be carried out, such as gymnastics. So, I really want to know more about working in a mental hospital.

The particularity of the patient's source makes it difficult to carry out activities for the patient's family. The Jinan Psychiatric Hospital is part of the civil administration system, which determines the nature of the assistance it receives. Therefore, most of the patients are from wanderers, three non-persons, etc. Many people do not even know their names, let alone family contacts. This made my originally conceived services such as emotional comfort and support for the patient's family unable to find the object. Of course, there are patients with family members, but they have not been contacted yet.

The embarrassment of the work process. In the ward of a mental hospital, the relationship between the patient and the doctor is not only a doctor-patient relationship, but also more warmth. However, the special pathology of the patient makes it necessary for nurses to reprimand to attract the attention of the patient and maintain order. Further, it may be a way for doctors and nurses to maintain their own safety. But Jiang Yuzhen and I have not screamed and blamed the sick people so far. We always feel that the concept of social workers does not allow this. We must treat them as equal people. But sometimes I feel confused, because our respect is more to be ignored, and even because the patient thinks it is "good bullying" and is treated with some unreasonable actions.

I know that it is only possible to make good results based on the actual conditions of the work environment. I am willing to adapt, continuously overcome and constantly strive for the social workers I am pursuing!
