Just now everyone has heard the speeches of three younger and better teachers in New Oriental. From them, especially from the teachers of Zhuang Zhong and Zhang Zhuo, we can see that the appearance and height of a person have nothing to do with his success. We are always paying attention to what we should not pay attention to, but we should never pay attention to what we should pay attention to. We pay attention to our looks, pay attention to whether our university is good, pay attention to whether our family has money or no money, and pay attention to other rich and qualified people who occupy the resources of society, but we never pay attention to ourselves. How should we grow? When we forget what we should not pay attention to and really pay attention to what we should pay attention to, it is the beginning of our life and growth.

Don't compare with others, try to grow yourself

The change of one's fate has nothing to do with what school, it has nothing to do with family conditions, and it has nothing to do with appearance. Therefore, we have to accept the fact that you cannot change. Whether you are tall or short, whether you are fat or thin, remember that this is the life your aunt gave you. Every life in this world will live a different feeling, so you don't care about the feelings of others, just care about your own feelings. And when we care about the feelings of others, there must be a mentality that we always want to see our own value from the eyes of others. We often say that what I see in the eyes of others is a waste of money, bad grades, poor family, and what I see in others’ eyes. When you live in the eyes of others, you will never have yourself. Therefore, the first step we must make is to forget the eyes of others, because you can grow up only by forgetting the eyes of others.

My five years at Peking University was a very painful experience. Later I made a summary that I was always looking at other people's eyes. Because I was admitted to Peking University from the countryside, and I have been tested for three consecutive years, I feel very inferior. I was very excited when I was admitted to Peking University, but when I walked into Peking University, I found myself a person who was so earthy. Many of the founders of New Oriental are my college classmates. They still call me "farmers, bandits". But today I have not looked so dirty, because after 30 years of wind and rain, vicissitudes have covered my rustic, but my heart is still very simple, because I always think that "the insistence of the soil is the victory of the ocean." When I entered Peking University, I didn't have such a heart, because people need time to grow up.

When I first entered Peking University, I still had a little pride, because 50 classmates in our class had to be divided into three small classes to study. I was assigned to Class A because my English test score was close to perfect score. But after less than a month, I was transferred to Class C. Class C was called a voice, intonation and hearing disorder class. It was very tragic. People have to find a foothold in their lives. For example, if you have nothing in front of your classmates, you will definitely look down on yourself, but if you have one aspect that is more powerful, even if you don't do anything else, you will have a foundation to build confidence. Students must remember that in college, in one aspect, they must train themselves to be the first in the class. This is not necessarily academic achievement. It can be football, basketball, swimming, singing, dancing, etc. . In short, it is better to have the same skills than the students around you, thus laying a foundation for self-confidence.

At Peking University, I found that there was no way to break through in any direction, whether it was reading or sports. I later realized that I have to learn. But my IQ is very general. When I was young, I found that I had to achieve the same achievements as other students. I must spend half as much as I doubled. For example, if you back the text, others will recite it 10 times. I have to read it 30 times before I can recite it, but I can remember the time I have backed out for a longer time, because you spend time and memory on one thing, with you. The length of the memory is proportional. But when I was at Peking University, I couldn't compare with my classmates in the same time, so when I was a sophomore, my academic performance ranked fifth in the class.

After entering the university, there are many other things to do besides reading. One of the important things is to fall in love. But I never dared to chase any girl in our class. My first love at Peking University was after I graduated from Peking University for two years, that is, after I spent seven years in Peking University. Why should I stay for 7 years? Because I was unfortunately studying at Peking University for 5 years. Why have you read for 5 years? Because when I was in my junior year, my mood was really depressed. This kind of depression comes from what I just told my classmates. I am comparing with my classmates every day, every day. I don’t think I can. And one person is most afraid of two states. One is that you are so high, but you look at yourself so short. When you think of yourself as so short, your heart is full of inferiority, a person full of inferiority. I can never see my own strengths, and I will be very sensitive. Even a person’s eyes will be considered malicious or a little bit of a feeling of being inferior; there is another kind of person who is so short, but he has to look at himself. To be so high, this is excessive pride and arrogance. In college, people who are overly inferior and people who are overly arrogant are in large numbers. Those who can win in the future after graduation are those who can look at themselves very rationally, who are full of struggle for the future and who are reasonably confident. I didn't understand this at the university, so I got a tuberculosis during my junior year. The doctor said how people like me might get tuberculosis, eat so much bitterness in the countryside, have never eaten meat in 18 years, and have no tuberculosis. As a result, how can pigs get tuberculosis when they can eat meat every day. I said that I studied hard, but the test scores are always up, and no girls love me. The doctor said that this is the real reason.

When people are full of inferiority, even the body will be bad. But the disease actually saved me. Because I suddenly distanced away from my classmates, the classmates of the previous session have already left me. The next classmates are not familiar with me, so I want to compare with others. At this time, I suddenly had a feeling of broad mind, I think why I want to compare with people, I am myself. I set myself a less high goal, which is to satisfy my own. What I had at the time was that I could graduate from Peking University, but I knew that I would not get a high score, so the goal was "60 million years old." When I graduated from Peking University, the average score was 67 points, still the fifth lowest in the class, but I had a very good attitude when I graduated. At the graduation ceremony, I said something like this: The classmates are very powerful. I chased everyone for 5 years, never caught up, and got a sickness. However, students are encouraged to believe that as long as I am alive, I will not give up. I have done 10 years of things that you have done in 5 years. What have you done in 10 years? I have been doing it for 20 years. You have done 20 years of doing things. I have been doing it for 40 years. If this life is really not catching up with everyone, I will stay healthy and happy. After the age of 80, I will send you away one by one.

In fact, when you really want to catch up, you don't need 40 years, not 80 years, almost you can catch up with others for 5 to 10 years. But there is a precondition here, that is, trying to grow up.

Three elements of making things: will, ability, resources

What makes you grow up? There are three elements in a person's life to make things: the first element is called will; the second element is called ability; the third element is called resource. The most important thing here is your will.

When you have a strong desire to get it, basically you can get what you want. For example, if you want to pursue a certain individual, but you don't dare, chasing the root is not that you dare not chase, but there is no strong will to chase. There are two things that can stop you from moving forward: First, your will is not strong enough; second, you are too inferior and have no courage. I didn't fall in love at Peking University because I was too inferior and didn't have the courage. Later, I analyzed it calmly, in fact, because I did not have such a strong will. Later, when I had confidence, I asked our classmates: At the time, I was a particularly tragic look at Peking University, so that when you saw it, you wanted to vomit. None of them said that this is the case. They all say that you are a good person, a very simple person, a person who studies very seriously. Although the results are not good, we think that you are a person who can truly be friends. This is the evaluation given to me by the university classmates. I found out that my impression of college students was not bad except for poor grades.

Later, when I analyzed my own growth process, I found that I had a strong will from the first step. This first step did not mean that I fell in love but that I was admitted to Peking University from the countryside. At that time, I had a strong desire that I could not be a farmer in my life. In the absence of migrant workers at the time, admission to universities was the only way to leave the countryside.

Classmates, when you are going to do things, if your intentions are not strong enough, increase your strong will; if you find that your wishes are strong enough, but dare not do it, then overcome your inferiority. Over time, you can not only help yourself, but also gradually help others. The key is that you have a will. Some people will say, Teacher Yu, you are so arrogant at Peking University, and your academic performance is not good. How do you slowly do things later? In fact, this is still a question of will. This willingness is not to say that I want to be the first and second place in Peking University. It is not that I want to be a graduate of Peking University. This willingness is called growth. From the beginning of the college entrance examination to today, I can say that I have never given up my own growth. This growth is a strong will, which means that you want to be better every day than the day before. I only compare with myself every day. For 30 years now, I insist on writing a diary every day. I insist on writing weekly notes every week. I insist on writing monthly notes every month. Every year I have to write a year-end summary. This is for myself, not for myself. other people. For example, going back tonight, I will think, what I did today is to let me grow up. I made two speeches today, one at Northwest A&F University and the other atnight, but the speech did not grow for me because the words I have said have been repeated many times. But I divide a thing worth not worth doing into two situations: the first is that it is worthwhile to do if it helps me to grow up; the second is that it is worthwhile to do something for others. . So, this evening I will define it as a lecture that is meaningful to my classmates, so I am here. But this is not for me to grow up, so I will definitely do one thing this evening, that is, open a book before going to bed, at least 30 pages. I am tired of not reading a 30-page book every night, because I know that I have not read the 30-page book. Now, reading it means my growth. So, if you don’t compare with others one day in your life, you don’t compare with others, don’t compare with others, don’t compare with others is rich or second generation, then your life is It has begun to grow.

The world must have stopped walking, but you can always stick to it. If you read more books than others, then your ability is better than others, and in the end you must do more than others. . Therefore, willingness and ability are linked.

How does the ability come from? The ability is constantly accumulating, and no one can improve his ability within one day. The happiest age in youth is 16 to 30 years old. Because you have nothing, you can have pure youth and pure love. This is something that every student can have. But after the age of 30, will you still have pure youth and pure love? At that time, generally, you will not have it. What do you want to eat after the age of 30? By your knowledge, wisdom, temperament, experience, the very good relationship between you and others, all these things are what you start from every step of the day. Of course, capabilities have a variety of abilities. For example, your personality is an ability in itself, you have to exercise your personality in college, to be generous. We often find that some students are preoccupied, small family, like this kind of things are anti-capacity; for example, some students like to say bad things in the back, some students like to take advantage of small, some students want others to do for themselves first Doing a little bit of good things for others afterwards, all of these things are counter-powerful. After entering the society, the counter-power will continue to shrink your world, and in the end, it will be extremely tragic to squeeze you into a lifetime. All this is not a bad world, but because of your own narrow mind and dark heart. So, there are too many abilities you have to exercise and too many things you have to pursue. Youth is embodied in you, you must constantly pursue; youth is still reflected in us, and youth has nothing to do with age.

A month ago, I had dinner with Professor Yang Zhenning. That day, his theme with me was what he was going to do 20 years later. Did the classmates think of a 90-year-old person talking to you about what to do after 20 years, what kind of shock will your heart bring. So, I adjusted my struggle age to 110 years old. We are looking for examples in life, because these examples always give you strength. Some students may have disappeared at the age of 25 years of puberty. The sign of disappearing is that there is no more enthusiasm for life and no pursuit for the future. But people like us are already your father's generation, and I still believe in the burning of life and the expectation and expectation of the future. Therefore, every student should consider what your ability and your future are.

The training of abilities is a matter of life. I still train my ability every day until now. If my ability can't grow up, I will never make a new Oriental from a normal teacher of Peking University, and I can't control a good listed company. I only scored 14 points when I was studying mathematics at Peking University, but today I have to look at the New Oriental financial statements with tens of thousands of data every month, and I see it very clearly. Why? Because the ability is improving, the vision becomes more and more acute. This is the process of people growing all the way.

In addition to willingness and ability, one element is resources. On this issue, I heard that the most complaints from the students are that the resources were occupied by the second generation and the rich second generation. The Chinese society has become more and more unfair, resources have become more concentrated, and we have nothing. We wait until after graduation to find work, and there is hope in this life. Is there any hope that we must first look at the general trend, that is, whether China has a chance. In my opinion, there are more opportunities for China in the future, because a rising society generally has a rising period of about 100 years, and China has only been going for more than 30 years. Therefore, students believe that there is an opportunity in the future. Is China fair? China is certainly unfair, but China’s injustice is not the most unfair in the world. So, since it is unfair, is there any chance? There is a chance. The reason is very simple, because Chinese society has always been a society open to the poor. Where is the resources in an open society? You can't blame your parents, saying that my parents gave me birth and are very poor, what? None, and the second generation and the second generation are so free. Remember, classmates, your parents have sent you to Xianyang Normal University to complete their historical mission, you can walk into this beautiful campus, and the feelings left by your heart for your parents are only grateful and grateful. Don't think about anything else.

How do resources fight for it? When I started doing New Oriental, I didn't have any resources. When I started a few hundred people from a 13-person class, competitors found that New Oriental has become a threat, so the way they solve the problem is to smash the people who helped me to advertise a dozen or so. I went to the Public Security Bureau to solve this problem, but the Public Security Bureau said that such a case is too small to be dealt with. After investigation, I found that the other party had already bought the Public Security Bureau. At this time, I am facing a dilemma. If I want to continue to do New Oriental, no one dares to advertise. I don’t dare to post it myself. If I don’t do New Oriental, what am I doing? I have already come out from Peking University, nothing at all. . So, I made up my mind to solve this question.

I sat at the door of the Public Security Bureau for 3 days to observe which police officer was more kind and eye-catching. Finally, I stared at a middle-aged policeman. He smiled at me every time he went in and out. I think this person is probably better at dealing with it, so I went up and told him that it was a little bit of a job to find you. It was not a big deal. I want to meet you, can you go to the opposite tavern to eat and talk. In the tavern, he said, Teacher Yu, you have nothing wrong with this matter, and you are wrong with each other, but I can't solve this problem for you. If you want to solve this problem, you have to find our political commissar and captain. On the weekend, the captain, the political commissar and the seven policemen arrived at the restaurant I decided. In the face of the police, I don’t know what to say, I can only say, buddy, dry! Big brother, dry! The police said, Teacher Yu, the wine is not so drinkable, can’t say that you have a drink, we all have a drink with you, you have a A respectful respect, three respects. Classmates, the resources are what you are fighting for, from my resources to nothing to become a good friend with the police, and later become a good friend with the neighborhood committee, become a good friend with the superiors, and become good friends with various education and training institutions.
