Overview of the internship: This is the first time that WMGP has recruited Intern interns. There are six Tsinghua students in this internship, four in Shenzhen and two in Shanghai. Everyone is divided into different departments, but the overall internship arrangement is roughly the same, basically all of them are rotated in different parts. However, each of us has different internship time. The Ministry of Personnel has made arrangements for considering the different situations of each person when determining the time. This also reflects the rarity and respect of Wal-Mart as a retail service industry. My internship period is seven weeks, and I have different learning tasks every day. Overview of WMGP: WMGP was formerly a foreign trade agent in Hong Kong. At the end of 2001, Wal-Mart acquired and relocated it to Shenzhen, which officially opened in April 2002. He took on the role of a bridge between the Overseas Wal-Mart store's Buyer and the Home-Outside Supplier. Specifically, it is to select the right product supplier for overseas suppliers and to be responsible for the liaison and management of suppliers. WMGP has two branches in Shenzhen, one is the international headquarters; one is the Shenzhen operation department; Shanghai also has a branch, the Shanghai operation department; China's Dongguan and Taiwan and other places have some functions. The remaining branches are distributed around the world. According to the purchase volume, the total amount of goods purchased by China has reached nearly 80% of all WMGP purchases. WMGP's purchases accounted for more than 10% of Wal-Mart's total purchases. The booming development of WMGP: Since its inception, WMGP has achieved rapid development. The main reason is that the status of China's world factory has provided very cheap goods to Wal-Mart overseas, which has created new profit growth points. According to reports, WMGP's total purchases in 2003 reached as much as $15 billion, and it is growing at a rate of 30% per year. During my internship, I also found that the company has new 6 or 7 employees every week. WMGP's corporate culture: The company attaches great importance to the construction of corporate culture, and the content of corporate culture is very rich and broad. Among the more basic ones are: daily parity; three basic concepts; three-meter smile principle; sunset principle; ten success principles; many people try to summarize the secrets of Wal-Mart's great success, although different opinions, but both It is agreed that corporate culture construction is a very important aspect. It can also be seen that international big companies attach importance to corporate culture. The management atmosphere of WMGP: The company advocates the concept of public servant leadership, that is, requires the superior to take the initiative to care for and help the subordinates, and strive to train the subordinates to achieve the goal of success. My experience is very profound: my mentor is a Hong Kong native named Andy. I remember that he never called to discuss things with me. He usually voluntarily ran to my seat and asked me if I needed any help or what I thought. And asking me to go to dinner three times really made me feel the care of a nanny. In addition, the company is directly calling its name, each employee has an English name, and the English name plus the Chinese surname becomes the general code of the Chinese company. When you say hello, everyone only speaks English, no matter how high the level. Coupled with the friendly atmosphere embodied in corporate culture, many times I can't feel the relationship between the superior and the subordinate. WMGP has no rigid rules for employees' work and is more flexible. Of course, the prerequisite is to be able to complete the task. The company has a billiard table, a small pool table and a hand-controlled football table in the lounge. There are many people there for an hour of lunch. I also often go there to play billiards and enjoy it. In addition, I heard that the company's employees can rest for half a day without any reason every month. However, I have never thought of trying it. Friendly and excellent staff: The employees I contacted are very friendly and willing to help others. Most of them come from different backgrounds, including Hong Kong people, Taiwanese, Filipinos, Americans, etc., returning overseas Chinese, overseas students, teachers, and I heard that there is an employee from Citibank. I am very happy to be in contact with these people. There are many outstanding people in these people. Among them, Karen who recruits us is one of the attractive women who admire. She has a legendary experience, rich experience and profound knowledge. International procurement process: The international procurement process is referred to as “direct import”. To become a Wal-Mart supplier and complete a supply, a company generally goes through several important steps: Buying Trip; FC; QA; Shipping; Payment; there are many details in these steps, and many problems may be encountered. Real-time processing. Therefore, the direct import procurement cycle generally requires more domestic purchases. This is one of the reasons why not all Chinese cheap products can reach overseas stores in this way. Internship experience: This internship has benefited me a lot and has come into contact with a lot of interesting things. Through contact with Buyer, I have deepened my understanding of the culture of other countries. Through contact with different suppliers, I also have some insight into the industrial situation in the Pearl River Delta. What is more important is to make myself more aware of the meaning of success. . Of course, as part of the retail industry, WMGP also makes you have to learn the skills of dealing with people of different qualities. At the same time, there may be fewer opportunities to apply your own knowledge directly in the actual work, but often you need to pay attention to details and keep improving. Every little thing.
