TVU Social Investigation Report
First, the purpose of the investigation:
With the further popularization of quality education, we feel more and more that it is not comprehensive to measure the mastery of a student's knowledge by a single test paper. Many students' talents are buried because of the limitations of China's examination system. We are deeply sorry.
In the process of further promoting “smart education”, in order to better explore the potential of students and better develop their talents, our school will try to write graduation thesis in the sixth grade graduating class in order to further understand the effectiveness of this examination system reform. I conducted a survey study.
Second, the survey method:
Survey analysis. I conducted a questionnaire survey of 102 students and parents of the sixth grade graduating class, and conducted statistics, analysis, and conclusions.
Third, the survey object:
In Jiading District, there are a total of 102 students and parents in the sixth grade of the National Elementary School. Among the 102 students surveyed, 33 were academically outstanding, accounting for 33%, 52 were good, 51%, and 17 were students with average academic performance and difficulty, accounting for 18%; Among the parents of the students, 8 are graduate students, accounting for 8%, 18 are undergraduates, accounting for 18%, 29 are junior college students, accounting for 18%, 40 are secondary school students, accounting for 39%, and 7 are middle school students, accounting for 7%.
Fourth, the survey project and analysis:
1. Looking forward to breaking the examination system

As can be seen from the above data, students are not satisfied with the current traditional examination system that evaluates their ability with a test paper. They hope to break this traditional examination system and evaluate their abilities in a more relaxed and free way. In the form of graduation thesis, students who have poor academic performance can seek help to complete their studies, and at the same time get a satisfactory result. Students who have excellent academic performance can get out of the book and use a trial. The eyes of the study re-recognize the knowledge in the book.
It should be said that the reform of this examination system of our school is welcomed by students.
2. Research capacity has been generally improved
In the survey, 32% of students believe that their research ability has been greatly improved by writing a thesis; 63% of students think that their research ability has been improved; 5% of students think that their research ability has not improved. At the same time, most of the students believe that by writing a thesis, they will be helpful in determining the research topic in the future, familiar with the framework of the paper, and improve the ability to reorganize the data. Other students have also said that their "writing ability" and "method of sub-headings" have also improved.
From these data, we can easily find that the ability of all aspects of students has been improved from the process of “determining the selection of materials and collecting materials”. This is exactly what we are. What educators want to see.
3, the subjective initiative has been played
In the process of writing a thesis, 44% of the students completed independently, 32% of the students stayed on the basis of “collecting and organizing materials”, 23% of the students were independently completed under the guidance of others, and 1% of the students were others. Write it.
In conversations with the respondents, most of the students admitted that they were very busy in the process of writing a thesis, but they were also very fulfilling. They said: In the past spare time, after they finished their homework, most of the time spent watching TV and playing games. Since the beginning of writing a thesis, their spare time has been filled up by reading and checking the information. This shows that students' spare time is being fully and efficiently utilized, and their body and mind are developing in a healthy direction. At this time, the books they read were not teachers and parents forced to watch, but they volunteered to read. The selected books were also of their own interest. They thought while reading books, and their subjects were active and effective. Will improve.
4. Discussion on practical difficulties and feasibility issues
Among the “What difficulties have you encountered?”, 5% of the students think that the topic is too difficult, 45% of the students think that there is a lack of information, and 32% of the students also mentioned too many words and difficulties in printing, 10 % of the students asked for counseling and help from the teacher.
In the questionnaire survey of parents, 12% of parents thought that “primary school students writing papers” had certain feasibility; 86% of parents thought that “primary school students writing papers” had certain feasibility, but there were certain difficulties; 2% of parents thought “Primary school students writing papers” is completely infeasible.
From the above survey data, we can see that our parents generally support the reform of the examination system of our school, and believe that writing a thesis has certain feasibility, which can improve students' ability to observe and analyze problems. However, it is also found that the evaluation form of the paper, the design of the cover of the paper, the number of words in the paper, and the provision of the instructor need further imperfection.
V. Thinking and countermeasures
1. Infiltration of thesis teaching in normal teaching
Throughout the process of writing the paper, students generally reflect that they do not know how to choose a topic, how to write a pen, and the concept of the word "thesis" is vague. This point reflects the lack of training in this aspect of our usual teaching process. Indeed, in the absence of a "what is the paper", it is indeed difficult to ask students to write a 3,000-word article. Foreign students also write essays, but when they were very young, the teachers of the school infiltrated the “thesis” education. At the beginning, the requirements of the school were not too high, as long as the students learned how to find information, how to Collect and organize materials. For example, "Quality Education in the United States" introduces: A child named mine, he started writing a thesis in the first grade, when he chose a subject "Whale." He studied the "whale shape", "whale's living habits", "whale's spawning situation" and so on, and the result was affirmed by the teacher. Now, if our sixth grade students also choose this topic, they will also write according to these aspects. I think he will definitely not get a high score because he is already a sixth grade student! Therefore, I think that primary school students can also start writing in the lower grades, so that they have a process of exploration and adaptation. After several years of exercise, I think it would be no more difficult to ask them to write a graduation thesis at this time.
2. Improve the quality of teachers
In the survey, many students hope to get the guidance of the teacher in the process of writing the thesis. In fact, most of the teachers we work for are graduated from middle school, and we have not experienced the process of writing a thesis. There is still no set of things that belong to oneself in guiding the teaching of the thesis. In addition, our students' papers are selected by the students themselves. The result of this is that the papers in the class are too broad, which brings certain difficulties to our teachers. It can be said that in the process of writing this paper, the role played by the teacher is minimal. Therefore, the reform of the examination system has also raised a higher demand for our teachers. Teachers should continue to learn, teach students to choose the topic, they must first learn to choose the topic; teach students to collect and organize the materials, they must first learn to collect and organize the materials. I think: whether the future papers can be composed into several groups, we will jointly study a topic of interest, and at the same time, we will equip a teacher to make our paper writing work be solid and practical.
Conclusion:
In summary, although the students in the graduating class have encountered certain difficulties in trying to write a thesis, we believe that the traditional examination system for a lifelong examination will be broken, and a comprehensive synthesis such as “3+x” will be replaced. The ability test will be welcomed by students and parents. The initiative of primary school students to write graduation thesis to cultivate students' comprehensive ability will eventually be recognized by the society.
