Reflections on the status quo of newspaper media As a mature medium, newspapers are now in their own decline. The newspaper has officially entered the era of meager profit. Whether it is its own life trajectory or the impact of emerging media, newspapers are undoubtedly in crisis. However, this crisis does not lead to the demise of newspapers as imagined. From the perspective of the newspaper itself, the newspaper as a mature medium, its profit model presents a spiral of circulation. The basic mode of operation is: cheap sales – expanding distribution – attracting advertisers – and earning considerable revenue from advertising – for newspaper reproduction. At present, the newspaper industry is fiercely competitive, and there are more homogenized newspapers. Many newspapers adopt a low-cost sales strategy to strive for high circulation, but objectively give up the issue of profits and increase the risk of relying solely on advertising profits.
