Graduate Library Internship Report Fan Wen

Now I have graduated from college, and I have been working for a while. Looking back at my happy internship in the library when I was in the graduation internship, I thought that if I could work in the library, it would be true. It is very suitable for me. What I want to say is that I have experienced a lot of things in my internship. These are the facts that I have never felt before. I believe that I have grown a lot in my internship.

In March and April of 2019, I conducted a two-month internship at the Foreign Borrowing Department and the Newspaper and Periodical Department of the Liaoning Provincial Library. Li Xiaodong, deputy director of the loan department, and Xing Jun, deputy director of the newspaper department, served as my instructor during this period. Director Xing Jun took me to visit the provincial map, especially the library that some readers could not enter, so that I had a lot of understanding of the provincial map collection.

The Liaoning Provincial Library has nearly 4 million volumes of ancient and modern books and more than 10 languages. Among the 560,000 books of ancient books, there are about 120,000 books of good books, of which nearly 100 are in the Song and Yuan Dynasties. In addition, there are a wealth of Northeastern local literature and literature on the Manchu, Qing and Puppet periods.

The following is a detailed introduction to my internship in the Department of Foreign Finance and the Journal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has three lending offices on the third floor of the provincial map. They are: Social Science Book Borrowing Office, Natural Science Book Borrowing Office, Foreign Language Book Borrowing Office.

In the early days of the loan department, my internship task was to give a few large books with fast circulation.

As a provincial public hall, the Liaoning Provincial Library receives a large number of readers every day, and the things that people pay more and more attention to can be reflected in the categories of books they borrow. I found that the large-scale books borrowed a lot, indicating that people's quality of life is improved and they are more concerned about their health, especially some older readers prefer Chinese medicine books, such as acupuncture. There are also books on maternal and child health that are also very popular. In the social sciences, the fastest circulation is still i major categories, i247.5 novel books are often just borrowed by readers and returned to the shelf and then borrowed by other readers.

In view of the fact that some readers do not use the habit of using a bookboard, often forgetting where they got the book and arbitrarily putting the book back on the bookshelf, the chaos is very serious. Sometimes, in the search system of the provincial map, the bibliographic query can be checked. I can borrow it in the library, but I can't find it on the shelf. If the librarian does not often complete the whole frame and finds no problem, the book will become a dead book.

So my first internship task seems simple but significant. In order to work better, I specially prepared work clothes and gloves. Every day my work was dirty and tired. It was also a boring one. It was often dust that made me cough and grumpy. But I thought that my hard work could satisfy my readers. Still worth it!

Each lending place is placed in a row of stepped high-rise bookshelves against the wall to stack books backed by the readers. My task is first to put one of them in a more specific classification on the cart, and then find the designated position of the corresponding wooden bookshelf, put it on top. The bookshelf of the loan department is generally not very high, and this is also for the convenience of the reader. The books in the provincial map are arranged in a folding shape. Mastering the bookshelf of each type of book and this law, the whole work is much easier. In this process, I carefully compared the working methods I developed with other librarians, and found the deficiencies to improve. I think this work is based on the librarian's many years of work experience to find out the best solution, and then the teacher teaches the new librarian in the way of the apprentice. This invisible knowledge is very valuable, although it does not form a formal written format like a textbook. The text, but the words and deeds passed down from generation to generation also passed on good habits. The librarians of the loan department have an important job in dealing with the readers at the front desk, in addition to being responsible for several books.

Due to the uneven education and age of public library readers, many older readers who do not use computers to search for books often go to the reception desk to ask librarians for the location of the required books. I helped these readers find books at the beginning. And answer some simple consulting questions, such as: how to apply for a certificate, the loan period, the number of books that can be borrowed, and when it expires. After getting familiar with the computer operation process, I began to independently complete a series of work such as borrowing books, returning books, fines, renewing, and sorting books. Different from the simple work of borrowing books and returning books and fines in colleges and universities, this work must first be good. The face-to-face communication with the readers should reflect the good cultural quality of the librarians and patiently answer the reader's questions. More important is the efficient work, not to make mistakes, so it requires a high concentration of attention. How to get the job done quickly, each librarian has his own coup, and the style of each librarian is different. Because I am not skilled enough, I often cause the reader to wait in line. The teacher comforted me that this is a skilled job. I just want to do more, and explain to the reader that I am an intern. The reader does not blame me but encourages me. I am very touched when I am embarrassed. This harmonious atmosphere between librarians and readers has made me memorable.

The province map uses the ilasii book management system. To borrow a book, you must first open the borrowing system, then use the scanner to sequentially scan the barcode of the book and the book, and tell the CCP a few books when they expire. If the amount of borrowed books is huge, it is necessary to limit the amount of borrowing, less than 6 copies, and another disc is equivalent to the number of books borrowed. To return a book, you need to open the book return system first, and then directly scan the book's barcode. If there is an overdue book, you should calculate the penalty by 2 points a day, and finally pay the cash to clear the expired record. Renewal can be in three forms. The reader takes the book or library card to the library and asks the librarian to help renew the loan on the ilasii system. The computer user can enter his or her library card number and choose to renew the book on the provincial map website. Call the librarian to help renew, each book can be renewed once, for one month.

The borrowing office of the Provincial Department of Foreign Investment is an integrated layout of Tibetan borrowing and reading. After going up the stairs on the 2nd floor, there is an access control system at the door, so the parcel should be stored downstairs. Returning the book outside the access control system, borrowing books in the access control system, the reception desk is also intentionally made into a chamfer shape, the librarians borrowed the book from the reader to the desktop outside the door, allowing the reader to first pass the access control system, and then take the book. On the left and right sides of the librarian's seat, two carts are placed, one is back to the social science books, and the other is a natural science book. When the librarian sees the needle and the eye is fast, he can immediately glance at the classification number of the returning book and then place it in the corresponding position of the cart according to each category.

After completing a one-month internship in the loan department, I started an internship in the newspaper department. Xing Jun, deputy director of the newspaper department, is an alumnus of our Liao division, so I feel particularly cordial. Although he has been working for many years, he still has a deep feeling for the Liao teacher. When he talks about Jia Yuwen, he seems to have returned to the student era.

As an independent department, the newspaper department has selected newspapers and periodicals. The journals are arranged according to the classification number and the serial number. Each publication is placed in a plastic bookshelf box and then placed on the bookcase in order. The newspapers are held separately every day and afternoon, and all kinds of newspapers are not placed in a certain order. For the convenience of the reader, the desk is tilted to the table. The newspaper clip is the kind and simple. Two nails and one switch are respectively fixed on the two strip iron clips and are fastened together. Newspaper binding is not very easy. The bookshelves of the provincial graphic journals are different from those of our Liao Teachers' Hall. The Liaoshi Museum has opened the wooden boards, and the space inside can store such periodicals. I think this is more convenient for the readers to read, and it is also convenient for the librarians to find the disordered phenomenon in time. easily.

A job that is often done in the newspapers and periodicals department is to assign a classification number to the publication. If this publication has been previously booked, the classification number can be found from within the system. If it is a new subscription, it can be classified on the national map website or according to the journal classification manual.
Sticking barcodes is also a job I often do. The barcode is equivalent to the serial number, which shows the number of publications. Stick the barcode to avoid sticking to the title, and attach one before and after each book, which is consistent. Don't mislabel or break, because only one print per barcode, the damage needs to be reprinted. Since the bound cover is thick and sharp, the process of bar code can't be worn with gloves, so the hands are often cut.

In the later stage of the internship in the newspaper and magazine department, the ilasii management system was mainly used for current and post-production management. The current issue needs to scan the journal barcode first, and then manage the computer system according to the specific situation. To post the journal name, find the warehousing situation, and then enter the new warehousing period and number of volumes. The Longyuan Journal purchased by the provincial map can read e-journals for free as long as the ip address is available to computer users in the province. The types and quantity of journals are very rich. I am also using this resource to read my favorite magazines, and I can read them for free without leaving home. It is very convenient.

During this internship, I used the rest and weekends to visit public libraries such as the Shenyang Library, the Shenyang Children's Library, and the various university buildings in the Daoyi University City. Compare the differences between public and university buildings, their respective advantages and characteristics. In the contact with librarians and readers, it is found that the library plays an irreplaceable role in people's cultural life. It also talks about the future development trend of the library, which further strengthens my love for the library profession.

But now I am not working in the library. This is a departure from my major, but this is the reality. Not all people are engaged in their own professional work after graduation. I believe I will do better. Although this is the reality, I still have some regrets. In the future work, I will keep in mind this experience. Although I am not very realistic, I will work hard and believe that I will do all this well!
