Now I will brief you on our work to promote the work of the United Front Work Department last year and this year's work concept, and sincerely request everyone to guide and criticize our work.
At the beginning of last year, in accordance with the overall requirements of the school's party and government work throughout the year, we formulated a year-round working idea around a main line of education, highlighting two work priorities, strengthening three service functions, and doing basic work in five areas. Through the joint efforts of all the comrades of our department, we basically achieved our expected goals.
Focusing on a main line of education is to carry out propaganda and ideological work closely around the important ideology of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and studying and practicing the "three represents." Around this main line, we organized the party's growth essay competition, the school's party history knowledge contest, and promoted the study of the important thinking of the "three represents." The 80-year-old book exhibition, the revolutionary history and history exhibition, the "Three Represents and the Chinese Communist Party Facing the New Century" report meeting, and the training of General Secretary Jiang Zemin's "July 1" speech training class.
Highlight two work priorities. In the first half of the year, we took the preparatory convening of the party building and ideological and political work conference as a key task, and carefully drafted and revised the school's "Implementation Opinions on Further Strengthening and Improving Ideological and Political Work", "Party Construction and Ideological and Political Work Evaluation and Assessment Program" and other meetings. The archival materials and various preparatory work for the conference ensured that the party committee successfully held the party building and ideological and political work conference on June 26 and 27 as scheduled. In the second half of last year, we took the work of the United Front as the focus of work in accordance with the situation in which the various democratic parties gradually changed. Go all out to do a good job in three aspects. First, on the basis of earnest investigation, 22 representatives of the Democratic Party were actively recommended to the Provincial Party Committee and the Democratic Party Committee. As a candidate for the members of the democratic party, the standing committee, the deputy chairman, and the chairman. Up to now, five people have been listed as the main committee and the deputy chairman of the committee has accepted the inspection of the Central United Front Work Department and the United Front Work Department of the provincial party committee. Strengthen three service functions. First, take the initiative to provide services for major school work. In the important work of school public meeting, faculty representative meeting, school track and field meeting, etc., we all actively undertake the important tasks such as organizing publicity and reporting of text materials conferences; second, we actively provide cooperation for the work of various departments and units. We cooperate with the Youth League Committee, Student Office, Trade Union, Graduate Department, Science and Technology Department and other departments to carry out various tasks. Third, we actively provide support for the work of various departments, basic medical schools, clinical departments, foreign language teaching departments and law schools, oral We are doing our best to support all kinds of activities organized by the Department and other departments. In short, as long as it is the faculty and departments that need our support, whether it is evening, Sunday or holidays, we fully support it.
Do the five basic tasks. First, efforts should be made to do a good job in the theoretical education of faculty and staff and the situation and policy education of students. We assist the party committee leaders to seriously organize the party committee center group to study and organize the cadre theory training together with the organization department, and arrange the theoretical study of the faculty and staff of the whole school. At the same time, we have done a good job in teaching the situation policy of the whole school. Last year, based on the students' ideological reality and major domestic and international events, we opened the "10th Five-Year" development plan, the "July 1 speech" to join the WTO challenges and opportunities, the 9th issue and the Sino-US relations and other six situation education topics, received better Educational effect.
The second is to vigorously strengthen the research work on ideological and political education. Last year, we organized the development of guidelines for ideological and political education, and actively organized two classes of teachers and party political workers to apply for ideological and political education research topics. A total of 5 projects for the ideological and political education research conference of colleges and universities in Shanxi Province were won, and 8 projects for the ideological and political education of the Provincial Department of Education.
The third is to insist on holding a humanities and social science forum. Last year, a total of 12 academic lectures were held. Especially in the second half of the year, we and five other schools in the provincial capital jointly invited five famous professors such as Xue Hanwei and Yi Jiexiong from Peking University to hold five academic lectures. Each lecture was not only a seatless. In the aisle, the classrooms around the desk are crowded with students, and there is also a strong enthusiasm for studying humanities in the school.
The fourth is to work hard as an external publicity work. Last year, in addition to regularly reporting in newspapers and periodicals, we timely reflected and reported on the work of the school, and organized influential outreach activities. We cooperated with Beijing Zhonglian Culture Communication Co., Ltd. and recorded a 15-minute introduction. The specialization of the development of our school was selected into the large-scale series “Chinese Universities” and was publicly released at home and abroad. We actively participated in the publicity and reporting of doctoral programs in Shanxi universities organized by the provincial degree office. In the scientific and technical edition of Shanxi Economic Daily, we continued to publicize and report on the three doctoral programs of our school. These have played a positive role in enhancing the social influence of schools.
The fifth is to strengthen the construction of propaganda positions. Last year, we passed the strict manuscript review system, standardized the editing work program, improved the layout design form, and improved the overall quality of the school newspaper. It successfully passed the review of the Provincial Press and Publication Bureau. The TV station began trial broadcasting in April last year, and broadcasted its own programs on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In addition to regularly reporting programs for provincial stations, it also collected and saved audiovisual materials for major school events. Under the difficult conditions of the equipment aging and no full-time announcer, the broadcast station fully mobilized the enthusiasm of the student announcer to ensure the normal operation of the morning exercise, the flag-raising activities and the normal operation of the broadcast work.
Looking back at the work of the past year, I deeply feel that I have many shortcomings and mistakes. For example, immersed in the daily affairs of affairs, the consideration of the ideological and political work of the overall situation and the giant view is relatively small; the deployment of politicians' political theory learning arrangements is more in-depth and the inspection and supervision are less. There is a lack of in-depth thinking and serious research on how to combine the actual and effective ideological and political work and spiritual civilization construction of our school. I hope that the leaders and colleagues will criticize my shortcomings and mistakes. We must accept them earnestly and make serious corrections.
In 2002, we will do our job well, and strive to provide services for school teaching and research to concentrate on the following five aspects of work.

Third, in order to welcome the party's 16th National Congress and study the spirit of the 16th Party Congress, continue to deepen the study and education of the important thinking of the "Three Represents", strive to improve the organizational form of theoretical education, and establish and improve the examination of theoretical education. The assessment system will improve the practical effect of theoretical education.
Fourth, further strengthen the work of the united front. On the basis of guiding and helping the democratic parties to successfully complete the re-election work, they organized theoretical training and business learning for the leaders of various democratic parties, improved and improved the various systems of united front work, safeguarded the democratic rights of democratic parties, and promoted the healthy development of democratic parties. .
