College students' internship summary in the US

A year ago, I didn’t listen to the paid internship program in the United States. I didn’t think that one day I would travel across the ocean to the United States, but I didn’t even think about it a year later. I have already worked in this free and open country. And lived. At that time, I just signed up for this project with a strong curiosity, and I would like to take this opportunity to experience exotic customs and enrich my life experience. After a series of work for the United States, I was full of expectations for this summer job that might make me unforgettable. Before departure, family and friends must work hard and have fun. On June 1st, with excitement, I finally embarked on a journey to the United States.

When I first arrived in the United States, the first impression was that Americans were very friendly and enthusiastic. No matter where you go, passers-by will take the initiative to say hello to you, or you will smile, making people feel very comfortable. At that time, I carried a lot of luggage and got a lot of help from people along the way. If you ask for directions, they are not just guiding you. Sometimes they will drive you to your destination and you will be grateful. When I came to the United States, I gained a lot. In addition to being able to work here to gain valuable experience and learn something that I couldn’t learn at home, I also made friends from all over the world. Of course, I have encountered many difficulties in my work life, but with the help of my friends and my own efforts, these problems have finally been solved.

My first job was housekeeping in a motel called seven dwarfs in Lake george, New York. It’s a bit tired to do this, but after a while, especially after I’m familiar with everything, I’m getting used to it. Housekeeping is actually a simple and easy job, but we must be careful. Every checkout room can't hold a trace of hair on the bed, the furniture must be spotless, otherwise the guests will be dissatisfied. If you are careless, it will be easy to have problems. I still remember that once I mistakenly dumped the guests on the ground as garbage, but fortunately I found it back later. The guest did not pursue it, and the employer did not blame it, but I still secretly beat my mouth. I thought, if things can't be found, if the customer claims, will I be so lucky next time?

Since June is a low season, I have not worked much in the first month of the United States. I was very depressed for a while, I have had it once or twice, and I have been resting for three days a week. Sometimes even if there is work, it is only an hour or two. A week's work is only ten hours. And I have to pay the rent every week, so I earn very little. Every day after work, I have to go to the town to find a second job. But the business here is as abnormal as the weather, and there are few shops and restaurants to ask for. I am disappointed every time. I also filled out the job application form of McDonald's and Six Flags online, but I have not heard back. I was very upset at that time. Later, the head of the staff' connection, Gerri, introduced me to the sagamore hotel. After seeing the HR manager at Sagamore, I got a job that many students envied—spa& pool attendant. Speaking of sagamore, it is a very formal hotel. It is located on a small peninsula in Bolton Land, surrounded by lake water and beautiful scenery. The sagamore main building is surrounded by golf courses, tennis courts, an outdoor pool and other recreational facilities. Most of my work is the receptionist at the spa. Every day, if a guest checks in, the colleague at the spa will call me. I will take the guests to the spa, introduce the use of the sauna room, whirlpool, steam room, fill in the form for the guests, let them in the spa lobby and wait for their therapist and so on. Sometimes I will be transferred to the outdoor swimming pool, which is beautiful, and work there is a pleasure. This job is a very good errand, so I always guard myself, have a sense of responsibility, and do my own things well, don't make mistakes. I usually communicate with my colleagues. I will ask them if I have any questions. They have a need, I also help, and everyone gets along very well.

In terms of life, I changed my job once and of course moved home. The first employer, saima, is also my landlord. Both of them are Pakistanis and take care of me in life. I have my own kitchen over there, the tableware is complete, I can cook rice and cook. Usually, saima will drive me to Wal-Mart in Queensbury, or take me to the nearby shopping mall. Everyone gets along very well.

After changing jobs, I moved to the sagamore staff quarters. There is no kitchen there, but we can go to the sagamore staff restaurant for dinner. Because they are all Western food, I was a bit unaccustomed at first. My roommate erica is an American, she is a hearty, informal. We take the initiative to clean the room every time. Everyone is taking care of each other in life and they are happy to do what they can. She also took me to the bar, it was my first time to go to the bar, where I met many friends.

It’s been two months since I came to the United States. I have not been to a long-distance tour. The second day I arrived in the United States, I went to the Times Square in Manhattan, New York. There is a bustling area in New York City, with a lot of people, high consumption, and fast pace. Wandering there, it is easy to feel that the purpose is not to shop, but to feel the rhythm of the times. At lake george, the one I went the most was the big pier. It is very wide and the lake is very calm, especially on sunny days, the sky is really beautiful. I sit there almost every day, and the calm lake makes people feel calm and clear-headed. In fact, lake george and bolton landing are two resorts. There are a lot of lakes here, and the lake is surrounded by mountains. Walking by the lake or boating on the lake is very enjoyable. The sagamore hotel I work for is also a famous place. It has been more than a hundred years old, but it is not old or old. When I first got there, I liked it. I really hope that I can work there. Later, I really got what I wanted. Every Wednesday, employees can participate in the yacht club in Sagamore for free. It’s really fun to have fun on the yacht. I am very fortunate to come to the United States for two months. In addition to the US Fire Day, the Earth Strike War, the fireworks and fire officers and soldiers parade celebrations, I also encountered the American dnc TV station to sagamore to shoot the program. That day was the first day when the sagamore outdoor swimming pool was open. Many residents in the vicinity arrived at the scene, and the scene was very lively. Although I didn't have enough money to travel to the Central Region, I plan to finish my work one week earlier. I want to go to the Statue of Liberty, go to Central Park, and go to the great escape to play crazy. I am full of expectations for this.

When I went to the United States, the most important thing I should gain was the improvement of English. I still remember that when I first arrived here, I was very uncomfortable with the accent of this person. I had to ask the other person to repeat it many times before I understood it. Moreover, I often make grammatical mistakes. Many things I can't express clearly in English, and often make employers and friends laugh and cry. But they are very patient and sometimes slow down. Chatting with them, I have no pressure at all. And I learned to express it once, and then exchange it for another meaning. I don't know if I have made great progress, but I can at least understand what the other party is saying, learn a lot of vocabulary, and improve my spoken English. When I used to work very little, I went around to find a job. When people tell me that they don't need people, I have to talk a little more about them with a cheeky face. In this way, my guts have also improved a lot. I know that after I graduated from college next year, I am facing this situation. Now I should be exercising.

I am really glad that I have been to the United States. I have benefited a lot from my work, my life, my friends, and my studies. On the way to study and apply for a job in the future, I will encounter more difficulties. But I believe that through this experience, I will become more mature and understand the points in terms of people. This social practice is a valuable asset in my life. It has greatly improved my ability in all aspects and prepared me for adapting to society early.
