Survey of college students' credit card status: "sleep card" and "card slave" are more and more today, credit card has become a common practice on the university campus. During the summer vacation, several students from the 06th International Trade Department of the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade launched an investigation in the Songjiang University campus. They found that more than half of the college students have credit cards, and many people still have more than one, while sleep cards, bad debts, squandering, and dismantling And so on.

"Sleep card" and "card slave" are not uncommon

Students from the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade have used the summer to conduct a survey on the current status of college students' credit cards. Before and after the holiday, they conducted a questionnaire survey in the Songjiang University campus. During the summer vacation, they visited a number of banks and consulted economics professors. Finally, the reason why college students are keen to do the card is: the credit card issued by the bank on campus is not The temptation to pay an annual fee, a low threshold, and a difficult gift card.

At present, there are two major categories of card-bearing students. One is the “sleep card” holders. They do not need to open the card, and the cancellation rate is high. The reason why Xiao Li, a sophomore at Donghua University, explains the card: “When the bank promotes, it means I sent a brand-name cup, I think it is quite cost-effective, I have a card. However, I have never used that credit card so far."

Followed by the family of swiping cards, they are deeply influenced by the consumption concept of “spending tomorrow's money and doing today's things”. Many people have also become "card slaves" because of the lack of supervision of banks and parents. They are worried about repayment every month. Xiao Shen, a foreign trade junior, said: "Since the credit card was opened, I often endured it. I can't live in overdraft to buy things. As a result, I owe more than 1,000 yuan and I haven't paid back. Now I am worried about the interest issue from 1 to 13 days. I will write it off when I clear the money."

Banks sell campus cards full of tricks

The huge potential profits of the college student market prompted banks to exhaust the way to divide the cake, and the marketing methods also emerged endlessly.

The captain of this research activity and Chen Huayuan, a foreign trade professional with a level of 06, said that every semester starts, there will be a lot of bank stalls selling credit cards in colleges and universities. They have thrown "hydrangea" to college students, such as the construction bank. Winnie the bear pillow, China Merchants Bank's hellokitty card, etc., these gifts are quite "killing" for college students, attracting students to do credit cards.

There are also "card slaves" and "card gods." A group of students "takes" the banks to take the college student market as the mainstay, and earned a fortune by helping banks sell their business and do business in schools. Xiao Zhu of the Polytechnic told reporters: "I have been selling bank cards in school. I can earn 10 yuan when I open a card. Usually, I walk around the dormitory and ask my classmates to fill in the application form and open a card. Everyone will agree." Students like Xiao Zhu have several to dozens of colleges and universities in the city.

It is recommended that universities carry out "credit card education"

The investigation shows that the root cause of the phenomenon of "sleep card" and "card slave" is that the current "credit card education" cannot keep up with the speed of issuance of credit cards. Among those who did not apply for a credit card, 38.33% said that the reason for not applying for a credit card was “there is application value, but they do not understand the credit card interest calculation method”; some people who applied for a credit card also said that “the credit card is not well understood. Interest calculation method".

How to reduce the number of "sleep card" and "card slave"? Chen Tianyuan said that after targeted investigation, data analysis and expert guidance, there are three main ways to solve this situation. One is to control the application threshold of college credit cards, which can prevent a large number of “card slaves” from continuing; To enable students to understand the interest algorithm; finally, the introduction of relevant regulations to regulate the college student credit card market. In XX, the United States of America asked the university to manage the card marketing on campus, requiring banks to consider the practice of prohibiting cards from being sent. In XX, Kentucky requires college students to apply for credit cards with written authorization from parents. In the eyes of experts, these foreign experiences are worth learning from domestic banks and universities.
