Practice time: June 8, 2019, June 21, 2019

Practice location: xx Children's Social Welfare Institute

First, the purpose of practice

Social work major refers to the society's assistance to individuals and groups who cannot rely on their own strength to enter normal social life due to external, self and structural reasons, so that they can respond to social life and coordinate social interaction. Relationships, professional methods to improve the quality of social life and enhance social well-being.

Social work is a very practical profession, so going deep into society and applying theory to practice has become one of the important courses of this major. The purpose of this practice is:

1. Understand the organizational structure of the Children's Welfare Institute

2. Understand the living conditions of school-age children

3. Consolidate theoretical knowledge, exercise practical work ability, and enhance the interest and enthusiasm of social work.

Second, the introduction of the practice unit

The xx Children's Welfare Institute was established in XX. It mainly adopted some children with physical disabilities, orphans, etc., and adopted socialization methods such as family foster care. They accepted many children who were not dependent, and gave them life and education. Currently, the total number of children is 170. Children with disabilities: 80 age groups: 0-2 years old, 50; 8-17 years old, 35; 3-7 years old, more than 80, of which 8-17 years old are school-age children, 3 high school students, ten Several middle school students, the rest are national students.

My work is mainly in the education department, for students in the national and middle schools to study and counsel, to correct homework, to chat with them, occasionally contact preschool children, the rest of the time is to organize books. The report in this article focuses on working with children.

Third, the practical content and personal experience

I came to the Children's Welfare Institute with doubts and curiosity, because we went through a series of programs to get into this "mysterious" place. The medical examination, the questioning of the guard, the registration, the waiting of the conference room, and even the children in the courtyard when I actually started working, I could not help but wonder about the legendary welfare home. I also thought that those children would be weird in my imagination.

When it is, what I have experienced has subverted everything about me.

Welfare staff gave us some simple requests, don't inquire about their lives, and keep the work in the court secret.

Some of them are children with congenital disabilities. There are limbs, gnomes, skin diseases, audio-visual disorders, imperfect pronunciation, mental retardation, etc., children who are abandoned by their parents when they are young, or children who have lost their guardianship, life appears in this form, let us understand this abnormal society. The living conditions and spiritual life of the group of children.

I first came into contact with preschool children who were about four or five years old. Preschool children were divided into small and medium-sized classes, and more time was in contact with school-age children.

In the ten days of practice, I summarized their characteristics into the following three points.

1. Most of them are passionate and vulnerable

Pre-school children have special kindergarten teachers. In the morning and afternoon, they are led by professionally trained teachers to do activities, singing, dancing, poetry, etc. They are young and energetic girls, so in this courtyard A lot of vitality comes from them, which is the wisdom of the hospital. At noon, the teacher led the meal, and the rest of the time was led by the life teacher and rested in the bedroom. When we meet strangers like us, they are not afraid of life, they are close to you, and they are called "Auntie". I am most moved. They all want their hugs, even if they hold hands, they can make them happy. . Often, they will cry inexplicably, just to attract the attention of others. The teacher’s slight criticism, they will also be in their hearts. In fact, to put it simply, we need the attention of others. We know that although there are many staff in the welfare institution, and even the official staff is the average number of children, there are very few people who really contact with the children. The children in the family are the treasures of all, and a lot of people surround him. So it's not hard to understand that their enthusiasm comes from the desire to pay attention to others. It also made me realize the importance of physical communication from parents and other relatives during the child's growth. Psychologically, children who have healthy physical communication with their parents are healthier than those who lack physical communication, and will be more smooth and calm in future interpersonal relationships. In fact, what about adults? Sometimes, a warm hug, a lot of pain, depression, grievances can be relieved.

2. They are like other children, they are angels, but they are a little sad angel.

They are not the kind of closed and weird children in their imagination. They are also full of sunshine and vitality. They will follow each other and learn words. When a stranger meets with curiosity, it will only make people feel so sad. They will call the uncle of the cafeteria "dad" and see the good-hearted people who often come to see them as "mothers."

Most of my work is to teach the parenting education of school-age children. They are from the first grade of the national primary school to the second grade of the middle school. Most of them are children with normal intelligence. They go to school in nearby schools and have special staff to give meals at noon. In the afternoon, I will return to the classroom in the courtyard to review my homework. On Saturday and Sunday, I will supervise them by special teachers or volunteers, as well as special tutors. Like us in the past, they want to finish their homework as soon as possible, hate the exam, and ask who invented such annoying subjects as "language", "mathematics" and "English".

They are also very concerned about the popularity in society. I clearly remember that in the process of dictating Chinese characters, I reported "Jie" and then grouped "Outstanding" and "Junjie". They still waited for a while, a boy asked. Is it "Jie" of "Jay Chou", only to discover that they are also in contact with society and are familiar with popular songs.

They are also joking, chatting, and talking about things in the school like ordinary children. They are not the kind of cold and frozen relationship. They are like brothers and sisters. The older children take care of the children in the first and second grades. This makes me very Moving.

However, sometimes, in the process of learning, there is a tendency to be impatient and uncooperative, and you will be dazed, melancholy, and think pampered, they will have something to worry about! One day, a child suddenly asked me, "Sister, why do people die?" I was shocked at that time, so how can a small child consider such a pessimistic and pessimistic question without answer? I know that once people think about it, With the problems of life and death, he seems to have matured, and he has more thoughts about his life. I said a lot to her. I remember the most clear sentence is "There is death in life." In fact, this sentence itself contains pessimistic meaning. How can I tell a child in my teens about life and death? They also have insincere and repulsive indifference to us. However, when they truly expose the problems in their lives to us, many times we are difficult to understand and difficult to analyze correctly.

3. Loneliness and dreams in the courtyard

Because of the large number of children, the management of the hospital often does not have the ability to name their respective names, especially for those who are inward and unwilling to associate. I don't want them to be anonymous, so I saw them on the first day. After the course, I told them my name, phone number, and then asked them to write their name on a piece of paper. I can remember the next day. Live them, I think this is respect for their personality! It's also the way to get in touch with them!

Welfare homes are closed management. In addition to the time of school, they stay in the courtyard, rarely go out, and occasionally have older children to play basketball. They rarely have access to the outside world. They are in welfare homes. Under normal circumstances, they are definitely not allowed to go out? I asked them, they said that there are occasional opportunities to take them out to play, the older children are still very familiar with the **.

We found that their ideals are also beautiful and beautiful. I asked them what they want to do in the future. They want to be teachers, translators, etc. Some children, studying very seriously, I told them to learn to change their own good way out. Of course, the rebelliousness and troubles of adolescence, too late to let them think too much about the future.

Ten days soon ended. I thought, before I came to the welfare home, I looked at this place that I didn’t know from the outside world with a curious eye. When I left, I discovered that, in fact, I have always been a relationship. The person involved, even when writing this practice report, I am still. The care for them also reminds me of my own growth process. I have troubles, they will have it. Of course, maybe there will be suffering or sadness that I have not experienced, but I always believe that they must If you grow up healthily, you will grow up, fall in love, go to college, find a job, become a family, and become one of the thousands of ordinary people. I believe it!
