Dustproof and anti-virus helmet


Practical documentary: One day in August, I was fortunate to have a family visit a quarry in the suburbs of Wuhan. There, I saw a lot of various kinds of stones, and the whole visit was very pleasant. The only thing that I regret is that there is a lot of tiny dust in the air, which we call respiratory dust, which is the main cause of pneumoconiosis in workers exposed to dust. I think that if workers bring a dust-proof and anti-virus tool that is more efficient and safer than dust masks, it is better to reduce the incidence of pneumoconiosis in the case of an increasing number of mines.

Scientific exploration: At present, the dustproof mask worn by workers exposed to dust is not ideal. The filter membrane area is small, and the dust is easy to adhere to the dust-collecting surface of the filter membrane, resulting in increased suction resistance, which makes the workers unable to breathe and workers are not easy to accept. And the mask is worn in front of it, affecting the vision, which is unfavorable to the operation, and the moisture in the exhalation also affects the dustproof effect.

This practical work problem has stimulated my interest. After carefully reviewing the relevant literature, based on the reference to the dust-proof appliances, the design is summarized as follows.

1. The helmet is composed of a cap body, a buffer air chamber, a filter membrane, a rubber tube, a rubber mouth mask, an inhalation valve, and an exhalation valve.

In the helmet, the position of the filter is as shown in the figure, so that the area can reach 2 to 3 times the area of ​​the multi-purpose dust mask, and the filter is placed with the dust facing down, so that the dust is not easily attached to the filter and the filter is extended. The effective use time solves another shortcoming of the short use time of the dust mask. While the helmet is highly dust-proof, the characteristics of the helmet are used, and a buffer chamber is formed in the cap body and the backing plate, which can buffer the impact force generated by the external force on the head and reduce the damage to the head, thereby achieving the dustproof effect.

2. In the environment where the dust concentration in the air is extremely high and there is poison, or in the working environment of toxic and harmful substances, it is not enough to use the dust-proof filter as the protection. It is possible to fix a piece of activated carbon in the buffer in the cap filter. In the air chamber, it can absorb substances that are toxic and harmful to the human body. Regular replacement of activated carbon can reduce the amount or concentration of poisons in the air inhaled by workers, protect the health and safety of workers, and reduce the occurrence of occupational diseases. In the environment with poor air quality, the “dust-proof and anti-virus helmet” can effectively control the inhalation of toxic and harmful gases, which increases the anti-virus performance.

3. In the production activities of underground mines, it is inevitable to use the light source, and the lighting can be installed on the cap body. The illuminator simultaneously measures the concentration of gas in the mine and alerts you once the gas concentration enters the hazardous range. The installation of a small-sized illuminator does not increase the bulk and weight, which adds a safety feature to the “dust-proof and anti-virus helmet”.

The dustproof and anti-virus helmet designed not only has the function of a safety helmet, but also has dustproof and anti-toxic effects. This method is very good.

This inquiry gave me a deeper understanding of environmental issues and control of respiratory dust and toxic and hazardous substances. In the future, I will continue to pay attention to and discover the things and phenomena around me, to be an explorer and climb the peak of science!
