However, the deep teacher complex of the academician who came out from a poor peasant family in the Jinggangshan Revolutionary Old District made everything clear: Professor Wang Qiankun was greatly loved by the teacher from the national small school to the university. A teacher is his wish from a small age. When he graduated from Wuhan University at the age of 23, he chose to go to Nankai University as a dream teacher. The teacher became his lifelong career. He once had the opportunity to be elected as the deputy mayor of Tianjin, but he did not resign. In May 1984, he came to the National Normal University, Beijing Normal University as the principal.
On the 9th of December 1984, the headmaster Wang Qiankun got up early and "suddenly" had the idea of ​​setting up a festival for the teacher. He habitually came to the office at 5 o'clock to prepare for work, and wanted to tell the idea, but still No one is going to work. At 8 o'clock in the morning, when he came to the office for the second time, he directly called the reporter to a reporter of the Beijing Evening News, and told the other party the idea and got the approval of the reporter. On the second day, the Beijing Evening News published a more than 200-word newsletter entitled "President Wang Haokun's suggestion to carry out the teacher-respecting month". President Wang believes that the teacher's re-education month can be set in February, March or August before the winter and summer vacations. About 15 weeks later, on December 15th, President Wang Qiankun held a symposium to further promote this initiative, and invited famous professors from Beijing Normal University, such as Zhong Jingwen, Qi Gong, Tao Dazhao, Zhu Xianzhi, Huang Ji, Zhao Qingyi and others to participate in the discussion. This initiative was unanimously agreed by the professors, and the parallel name was proposed to the society. The next day, "Beijing Daily" posted a newsletter about this initiative, but this newsletter added a striking title - "Beijing Normal University President Wang Yukun proposes to recommend September in September for the respect of the teacher. One day for the National Teacher's Day." This is the second time that the initiative to set up Teacher's Day has appeared in the media.
After two public outreach initiatives, Professor Wang Yukun believed that he had done the best efforts of a teacher and a principal, and then buried himself in complicated school affairs. However, only one month apart, on January 21, 1985, the ninth meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress passed a resolution, and the September 10th of each year was designated as the "Teacher's Day."
