This is a coastal city - Fangchenggang, one of the largest ports in Guangxi, so there are often foreign businessmen coming here to do business, some crew members, and foreign tourists. The hotel has received some foreign customers before, but because the hotel staff does not understand English, can not provide better help to the guests, so the hotel manager greeted me before the holiday, and went to the hotel to train his staff to train English. I readily agreed and thought it was a good exercise opportunity.
Resting in the relatives for a few days, by the way to organize the content to be taught, and then take a photocopy, there is a computer printer in the hotel, it is very convenient to organize. I will start classes every day from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, because the employees are not busy at this time. If they are not on duty, they should go back to the hotel to study.
On the first day of class, faced with more than 20 unfamiliar employees, there are two bosses, and my heart is still a little nervous. But still calm, I made a simple self-introduction in English, and then asked a little. But after listening to them, they looked awkward and couldn’t understand. Before I knew their basics, only a few know a little English, and there is no other foundation. Some employees are already 30 or 40 years old. Now let them re-learn, and it is not easy to learn foreign languages. Things, I also feel that the pressure is not small. Because the time is only one month, I didn't teach them from the voice, but told them to read the sentences directly, then explain the meaning of each word in the sentence and read the words. After a class, I only taught a few simple words, "Good morning, good afternoon, good afternoon, what can I help you?" It also made me understand their foundation more clearly, which is even thinner than I expected.
In the evening, I revised the material again, which reduced the difficulty, shortened some long sentences, and selected the commonly used ones. The eighteen sheets of material were compressed into ten sheets. Then, according to the services provided by the attendants at the main station and the floor, the words are different. It is also necessary to separate them and reduce their burden.
After that, I will teach them five sentences every day. After reading them, I will prepare the situational dialogues I prepared in advance. Everything I learned every day asked them to take a little time to get back after work. Some employees are still very cooperative, have strong ability to accept, and take the initiative to back down, but also encountered some employees, learning attitude is not serious, very exclusive. In the face of these elders, I am a little overwhelmed, but I still give them a good thing in the classroom, whether it is good for the hotel or for myself, so I hope that everyone will study hard.
Perhaps it is with a few days of study, some employees feel more and more difficult, they actually do not come to class. After the manager knew it, he was very angry and gave them a horse. If he didn’t pass the exam after one month of study, he would be dismissed. No such situation has occurred since then. Everyone is very cooperative with the class, and it is very hard. When there is nothing to do, there will be a sound of reading English in the floor work room. I am also very happy. I didn’t have anything to say when I was not familiar with it, but after a few days. Get along with each other, I know each other, and I am close to them a lot. They don’t know what they want to ask, and I also teach patiently over and over again, and also give some classes for those who have not taken classes due to vacation. Although they asked me to call my name, they still called me "Mr. Liang". In the face of this prematurely, I couldn’t accept it. I also realized the ups and downs behind this sacred profession. Be a teacher. It's really not easy.
However, the attitude of an employee is very stubborn. She said that she hates English very much. She has a headache and does not want to learn, so she did not study with us. She already knows the manager's rules, but she is still fighting against learning. I tried to convince her, but it didn't help.
After the employees entered the state, they learned quickly. Time is almost a month later. I didn't have new content for the next five days. Instead, I reviewed all the content I learned. I used to let them strengthen their memories in the classroom. Now I will review. It is not very difficult to get up, they hope that they can test in advance.
Finally, at the time of the exam, I learned all the spoken language, so the form of the exam is to let them have a situational dialogue with their partner. Then I will ask a few more sentences and let them translate. They performed very well and one employee also scored 98 points.
When I praised that they all learned very well, they all said that the teacher taught well. I feel very happy to get their approval. When I haven't come, I still worry about teaching badly. After all, I have never had experience in this area. Finally, he was praised by the manager. He also proposed to eat together at night to celebrate the “graduation” of the employees. The employee with a headache in English at the table apologized to me and said that I didn't study well. I was a little surprised, but I didn't pay attention to it. I forgave her if I didn't think about it. I promised to give her a supplementary class. Finally, she gave her a separate exam. Although she was delayed for a few days to go home, she was very happy with the hotel. The employees finally graduated smoothly. I think that their work will be more professional in the future, and will improve the service quality of the hotel and bring better benefits to the hotel. During the training period, I also used a spare time to design a service guide booklet for the hotel to make the customer more clear. Understand the services of the hotel. Some of the computer skills I learned during the last semester were all used. Sometimes I also helped the office's accountant to sort out the bills. After a month, I not only tried teaching, but also experienced a little office work. It also makes me realize the importance of comprehensive development ability. Although the major I have studied is a teacher major, the study of other knowledge is also very important. It is possible to use it after learning. I don't know if I will be a teacher in the future. Now I have given them a class for a month, but I actually gave myself a lesson. I used to think that my character is not suitable for a teacher, but now I don’t think it’s what I imagined. Not at all capable. The road ahead is still not sure how to go, but what is certain now is to learn the knowledge first and pave the way for your own life.
