The impact of the stability of decision rules on the delay selection behavior

1. Topic: The impact of the stability of decision rules on delayed selection behavior

2. The significance of this topic and the development status at home and abroad:

Compliance with rules is a necessary condition for rational decision making; delayed selection means that an individual decides not to make a choice when it should make a choice, including deferring the choice or refusing to choose an option among the options. A discussion of these issues will help us understand people's decision-making behavior more comprehensively and deeply.

Gao Shan, Li Hong, Chen Antao, and Bai Junjie have conducted a comparative study on the stability of decision-making rules for the elderly and college students. This research is part of the national key project of the 10th Five-Year Plan for Education Science. They have experimentally verified that older people are more disciplined than college students. Although the research on delayed selection behavior has achieved many research results with theoretical and applied value, as a relatively new field that has not received much attention, the research in this field is not deep enough.

3. Research content:

In real life, we often encounter a very interesting phenomenon: when you face two choices, you choose a, and when you face three choices, you give up a and choose b. At this time, your choices are lacking in consistency and are irregular. Moreover, many times we should hesitate when making choices, or have already chosen, but want to change. These will affect the rationality of the decision. This study conducts a certain experiment on college students to observe the relationship between gender and rational decision-making, and the influence of the stability of decision rules on delayed selection behavior.

4. Research hypothesis:

Boys are more regular and more rational than girls' decisions; the stability of decision rules is significantly related to delayed choice behavior, and stable decision rules have a negative impact on delayed selection behavior.

5. Research methods:

Literature Law: To grasp the status of research in this field by consulting books, psychological newspapers, and literature on decision-making in the Internet, and to find a more substantial theoretical basis for the paper.

Experimental method: This study will examine the research hypothesis through three experiments.

Experiment 1: Test the stability of their decision rules by selecting male and female discount cards for supermarkets;

Experiment 2: The students were divided into two experimental groups. The two groups went shopping in the mall, and wrote the shopping list after careful consideration before shopping. Group A is not limited to shopping, and Group B is limited to shopping. Record the shopping time and compare the purchased products.
