In the past year, the WTO may be the highest repetition rate in the country. As we all know, for the open China, the WTO is not only a challenge and an opportunity for economic development, but also a challenge and opportunity for the integration of cultural concepts. The latter is not only based on the former, but also has a huge impetus to the former, and to a large extent restricts the pace of the former. The premise of integration and acceptance is communication and understanding. If you want to communicate and understand, you must pass the language. Therefore, under the background of China's accession to the WTO, the importance of English as an international language has become more prominent, and Nanjing, as a window city where many businessmen gather, should be at the forefront of foreign cooperation.
In line with this understanding, the Second Party Branch of the School of Foreign Languages ​​has organized a series of party and day activities with the theme of "Welcome to the WTO Challenge and Encourage the New Wave of English Learning for the Citizens". In this activity, the party branch is divided into two ways: one is based in Jiangpu, and a large-scale English learning consultation activity is held in the Civic Square; the other is to find cooperation units in the Nanjing window industry.
After many preparations, the first road took the lead in breaking through. With the strong support of the Propaganda Department of Jiangpu County Committee, the first time was held on April 6th at Jiangpu Civic Square entitled “Advance with the Times, Learn English, Come Together” Large consulting activities. Before the event, the party branch requested that the student party members and party members who participated in the activity should fully prepare for the work, and take the three aspects of children's English, middle school English, and adult business terms as the main breakthroughs. The characteristics of learners at all stages should be more accurate. Grasping, we must have a certain understanding of the many teaching reference books at various stages, and give appropriate advice to learners at all stages in combination with their own learning experience.
When college students dressed in volunteer costumes appeared in the public square, Jiangpu citizens came forward with great interest and enthusiasm. Because they were fully prepared in advance, the party members and party members who participated in the event were able to fight calmly. The activity was scheduled for two hours. Under the strong request of Jiangpu citizens, the activity lasted for more than four hours. Throughout the process, the number of people who came to consult was endless. Some Chinese students asked about learning methods. Parents consulted their children, and there were also people who wished to improve their English proficiency but were unscrupulous. One of the parents asked the child a full two-hour question and asked to leave.
After successfully holding the first consultation, the party branch once again held the same theme event in Jiangpu Civic Square on May 18, combined with the last actual situation. The demand for the students was still in short supply. The students who participated in the activity were very tired, but they really felt it. A potential market for English learning. Excited, the party branch is already preparing for the third event. The difference is that in the third event, we will appropriately include the interpretation of the relevant provisions of the WTO and its comparison with China's corresponding laws and regulations.
Inspired by the success of the first road, the other side is also actively planning. With the help of the propaganda department of the school party committee, we first chose a window industry such as public transportation. Under the efforts of the party branch, the branch of the School of Foreign Languages ​​and the Youth League Committee of Nanjing Public Transport Company became co-construction units, and reached a preliminary agreement on the activities of “Millions of citizens learn English, bus window is my first move”. According to the plan, the whole activity is divided into three steps. The first step is to dialogue between the student party members and the various party buses on the party building party, and to translate and compile the civilized service terms and the voice prompts in the driver's daily work. The book is printed by the bus company and sent to the driver. The second step is to ask the foreign teacher to read and fill the tape to help the bus company to send the cassette to the driver. The third step is to train the driver and teach the driver and driver. Into the classroom to learn the organic combination, and strive to shape the new image of Nanjing public transport.
On May 24th, the party branch dispatched some student party members and party members to observe the car and communicate with the drivers on various bus lines. The daily service terms recorded have been compiled into more than one hundred sentences, and translation work is underway. Once the translation is completed, it will quickly enter the training phase for the drivers.
In the consideration of the party branch, the party and day activities of "Welcome to the WTO Challenge and Courage the New Wave of English Learning for the Citizens" will be a long-term activity that requires a lot of effort, but we always believe that in today's increasingly fierce international competition.
