Mixed price alliance

Not long ago, nine major domestic color TV companies jointly held the "China Color TV Enterprise Summit" in Shenzhen, and set up a price alliance for the lowest price of color TV sets. This matter has aroused widespread concern in all walks of life. In order to understand consumers' views on price alliances based on this matter, the China Economic Climate Monitoring Center and the CCTV "China Financial Report" recently conducted a questionnaire survey on 591 urban resident residents in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Interview survey, the results show:

Consumers pay attention to price alliances

When asked about consumers, I have heard of which industries engage in price alliances, knowing the most: Nearly half of consumers said that they are color TV industry, and pointed out that the color TV industry has more than once on the price alliance; more are: 37.7%, 34.6%, and 29.4% of consumers knew that air-conditioning, car, and air tickets had price alliances. At the same time, 10%, 5.2%, 2.4%, and 3.3% of consumers pointed out clothing, steel, dairy products, and others. The industry has also engaged in price alliances. It seems that every time the price alliance is in the eyes of consumers, in the heart, and the industry that is more closely connected with the lives of consumers, the price action is more concerned by consumers.

For the year of June this year, nine major domestic color TV companies held such things as the “China Color TV Enterprise Summit”, and nearly two-thirds of consumers expressed concern. Among them, 59.1% of consumers said that they are concerned about price alliances as an economic phenomenon; 40.9% of consumers are more concerned about price movements caused by price alliances.

Another third of consumers are not concerned about the price alliances of such industries. Asked for reasons, 61.5% of consumers said that they pay more attention to the quality, function, technology and service of goods than the price of goods; 24.1% of consumers think that the industry price alliance is far from their own, so There is no need to care; 14.4% of consumers believe that price alliances are difficult to form, or even if they are formed, they are unlikely to last long.

Affirmative and negative attitudes

So, what kind of attitude does the consumer who has experienced so many price alliances hold on the price alliance? The result of the investigation was actually: affirmative and negative attitudes.

45% of consumers hold a positive attitude towards the price alliance, and believe that this is a normal phenomenon in the market economy process, and through the price alliance can not only keep the cost of the enterprise as low as possible, but also help maintain and improve the international competitiveness of the enterprise products; 44.1% of consumers have a negative attitude towards the price alliance, which is considered to be unfair competition or price monopolistic behavior that violates the rules of the market economy and harms the interests of other enterprises and consumers. Those who oppose the attitude claim that whether it is color TV, or automobile, aviation, clothing, steel and other enterprises, in the past many years, they have already obtained considerable benefits through price and other factors, and have already possessed certain competitive capabilities in the current market conditions. It is also necessary to rely solely on price leverage, not only from the actual situation of oversupply, from the direction of improving product quality, but also in line with the international trend of anti-unfair competition and anti-monopoly. This part of the consumer further pointed out that the bad evaluations encountered by the color TV price alliance in the management departments and public opinion circles, the separation within the alliance enterprises, and the cold receptions in the shopping malls and consumers all prove that the price alliance does not conform to the trend. Not in line with development.

Illegal or not commented

Further, consumers' comments on whether the price alliance is illegal are also different. In the survey, 28.7% of consumers believe that price alliance is illegal, violating the "Price Law" and "Anti-Unusual Competition Law"; 43.6% of consumers believe that price alliance is not illegal, but only corporate behavior; 27.7% of consumers said that it is hard to say, wait until after development.

We are now taking the road of the socialist market economy, but the socialist market economy is also the legal economy. Therefore, both the government departments and enterprises and consumers must pay attention to legal awareness and promote the healthy development of the market economy under the legal system.
